Sourav Ganguly Buys A BMW G 310 GS

Looks like cricketers can’t get enough of BMW Motorrad’s small-capacity offerings. After Yuvraj Singh took delivery of his G 310 R in September last year, this time around, former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has taken home a spanking new BMW G 310 GS. This motorcycle, in particular, is the premium Pearl White Metallic colour variant, which costs Rs 10,000 over the ex-showroom price of the other two colours (Cosmic Black and Racing Red). The standard colour variants are priced at Rs 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India).

The G 310 GS is the German brand’s smallest ADV, and comes with a three-year, unlimited kilometre warranty as standard. Powering the motorcycle is a 313cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which generates 34PS at 9500rpm and 28Nm at 7500rpm, working alongside a 6-speed transmission. To tame the terrain, it rides on 41mm inverted front forks and a rear monoshock with both offering 180mm travel. Braking is courtesy a 300mm front and 240mm rear disc with switchable ABS (only at the rear) as standard. Though it rolls on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, the motorcycle is not exactly apt for hardcore off-roading because these are aluminium alloy wheels wrapped with Metzeler Tourance dual-purpose tyres.

Surprisingly, the efficiency for the G 310 GS is quite commendable as in our tests it returned 37.39kmpl in the city and 31.94kmpl on the highways. It should give you good touring range with the 11-litre fuel tank. The BMW G 310 GS competes with the Royal Enfield Himalayan and Kawasaki Versys-X 300 in the Indian market.
