Ola Roadster X Deliveries Delayed Once Again

Ola Electric has yet again delayed the delivery of its Roadster X and Roadster X+ electric motorcycles. The deliveries of the bikes were initially scheduled to begin in March 2025, which were then first postponed to April 2025, and now have been pushed again to May 2025.

Repeated Delays And Unclear Timelines

The Roadster X and Roadster X+ were launched on February 5, 2024 - with Ola promising deliveries from mid-March 2025. However, as March came to an end with no dispatches, the company shifted the planned delivery timeline to April. But now, in a stock exchange filing dated April 30 - Ola Electric stated that deliveries would now begin in May 2025, though a date was not specified.

Reason Behind Delay

Ola hasn't mentioned the reason in their statement, however reports suggest that the delay may be linked to homologation issues, with the motorcycle not having completed its certification process to make it road worthy according to Indian rules and regulations - even weeks after launch. On April 11, 2025 - Ola began production at its ‘Future Factory’ in Tamil Nadu and that the first batch of Roadster X units had rolled off the assembly line. The electric bike was also spotted at dealerships across the country. Despite all of this, not a single unit has been delivered to customers as of early May.

Under The Scanner

Ola Electric has also been under the scanner from various government authorities for having included undelivered but full pre-booking amount paid numbers in its February 2025 sales data. In a letter to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways dated March 21, the company acknowledged counting 1,395 confirmed orders for the Roadster X in its official sales figures for that month, even though the motorcycles had neither been delivered nor registered. This move has triggered inquiries from the Ministry of Heavy Industries, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), which is currently investigating Ola’s reported sales and actual vehicle registrations.
