Available in five Honda scooters and four motorcycles, the Combi Brake System (CBS) with Equalizer is now used by over 1 crore Indians.

In March 2009, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) introduced the Combi Brake System (CBS) with Equalizer technology with its scooters in the Indian two-wheeler market. Now, Honda has achieved a new milestone with this technology after seven years, as it has been accepted by over 1 crore Indian families. Currently, CBS with Equalizer technology is available in all five Honda scooters and four of the Honda Motorcycles in the Indian market. Besides the huge success in the country, the technology has completed over 30 years with Honda in the global market.

Commenting on the occasion, Keita Muramatsu, president & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, said: “Honda is leading innovation in technology that gives an extra edge to our two-wheeler customers worldwide. We are the first 2wheeler manufacturer worldwide to introduce dual clutch transmission system, airbag system in our production motorcycle models, advanced technologies like idle stop system introduced 15 years ago. I am proud to share that the Combi Brake System with Equalizer introduced over 30 years ago has brought smiles to over 1 crore Indians and more. Earlier also, Honda 2Wheelers India has introduced technological innovations like Honda Eco Technology, CLIC mechanism and tuff-up tubes. We are committed to introduce innovative advanced technology that realises the dream of ‘Mobility for everyone.”

The Honda CBS with Equalizer technology helps to reduce the braking distance of the vehicle by distributing proportional braking force to front & rear wheels. The Honda two-wheelers equipped with this system sports a "Combi Brake" logo on the front mudguard, which comes standard with all the five Honda scooters while four of the Honda motorcycles get it as an option extra.

The technology works on the application of rear brake, which means the left lever in scooters and right foot pedal in motorcycles. When the rear brake is used, the system proportionally distributes the braking force to both wheels and the front brake is also applied automatically. Apart from reducing the braking distance, it also improves balance, leading to more confident riding compared to conventional braking.

Honda currently provides the Combi Brake System with Equalizer technology in the following products - Activa 3G, Activa i, Dio, Aviator and Activa 125, CB Shine, CB Shine SP, CB Unicorn 160 and CB Hornet 160R.
