KTM 160 Duke Teased For The First Time, India Launch Likely This Month
It will replace the now-discontinued KTM Duke 125 and directly rival the Yamaha MT 15 Version 2.0
Quick News Highlights:
-
KTM 160 Duke will be based on the KTM Duke 200
-
Will be the cheapest KTM bike in India
-
Expected price around Rs 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom)
After months of speculation, KTM India has finally teased the Duke 160 on its social media channels, indicating a possible launch this month itself. It will become the most affordable KTM bike in India, and will be a replacement to the now-discontinued KTM 125 Duke.
Pricing
The KTM 160 Duke will mostly be priced around Rs 1.75-1.8 lakh, rivaling the Yamaha MT-15 V2 - which recently got updated with a TFT screen and new colours, is currently priced between Rs 1,69,550 and Rs 1,80,550 - depending on the variant (all prices ex-showroom).
Engine
The KTM 160 Duke will likely use a downsized version of the Duke 200’s engine. The new 160cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine is expected to produce between 18-20PS and 15-16Nm, keeping it competitive against its rivals.

The 160 Duke will also mostly use the same steel trellis frame and sub-frame, inverted fork and preload adjustable monoshock with 150mm wheel travel, 300mm front and 230mm rear disc brakes, 17-inch alloy wheels, 110-section front and 150-section rear tubeless tyres, adjustable clutch and brake levers - as the KTM Duke 200.
Features
This KTM duke bike will get all-LED lights and the console could be either a 5-inch colour TFT or LCD with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, music controls, call and SMS alerts also likely to be offered.
What Lies Ahead
The 160 Duke will be the first of the two bikes planned on this platform, with the fully-faired KTM RC 160 expected to follow possibly by October 2025. Both models are being developed with the Indian market in mind, and will not be exported.
BikeDekho Says
With the 125 Duke discontinued due to poor sales and limited performance, the 160 Duke should act as a fresh start and should offer a much better value for money, if our guestimated price turns out to be true. The new 160 platform is KTM bikes’ direct response to the highly successful Yamaha MT-15 V2, and seeks to claim ground in the competitive 160-200cc segment. If the performance and pricing match our expectations, KTM may have a winner with the new Duke 160.
