Honda Activa e: Gets A New, More Affordable Battery Swap Plan
With just 32 units sold in April and none in May, the introduction of a cheaper battery subscription isn’t surprising

Quick News Highlights
-
The new battery swap plan starts at Rs 678 monthly
-
You still cannot charge at home, and will have to rely only on the battery swap stations
-
The price drop is a massive 66% as compared to before
Honda India has reduced the monthly cost of its battery subscription plan for the Activa e:. The new Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ‘Lite’ plan now starts at Rs 678 per month (+ GST charges), make the electric scooter more affordable to run.

Poor Sales Since Launch
We’re not really surprised at this massive price drop considering the fact that Honda sold only 106 Activa e:’s in March 2025, just 32 in April 2025 and none in May - as per sales data from SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers). We have reached out to the brand for a clarification regarding the sales numbers but haven’t heard from them yet. Do note that the Honda electric scooters are sold only in select states.

A Big Drop In Cost
One unit is equal to 1kWh, and the 'BaaS Lite Plan' offers 20kWh of energy usage per month, which Honda says is equivalent to around 600km of range assuming a range of 30km per kWh as per IDC (Indian Driving Cycle). Users who exceed the 20kWh limit will be charged Rs 70/kWh (Rs 70 per unit), excluding GST.

Under the Rs 1,999 monthly ‘Basic’ plan, customers have access to 35kWh of battery energy consumption per month, equivalent to riding 1,040km a month. Honda also offers an ‘Advanced’ plan at Rs 3,599 with up to 87kWh of energy consumption or 2,600km Both these plans will charge Rs 35/kWh after they exceed the usage limit.

Battery Swapping Vs Home Charging
The Activa e: does not offer home charging, instead it relies entirely on battery swapping. Honda positioned this as a convenient option to avoid long charging times, but feedback from customers and dealers suggests that many riders prefer the flexibility of charging at home or at work. This is something other electric scooters like the Ather 450X and TVS iQube provide. By contrast, relying on swap stations means users must plan their rides based on where the swap stations are available, which may not suit everyone, especially in areas with limited coverage.

Honda Concept Store
Honda has also inaugurated its first-ever EV Concept Store in India located at Mantri Square Mall, Malleshwaram, Bengaluru. Customers can take a closer look at the Activa e: and QC1’s parts including the motor, battery pack and others. They can also witness how one can swap the batteries effortlessly.

Honda enthusiasts will love the fact that the showroom has a scale model of the Honda Jet on display, along with the funky looking e-scooter called Honda MotoCompato. It can simply turn into a suitcase for easy storage. Honda’s electric Racing Go-Kart (eGX), powered by the same Mobile Power Pack swappable batteries is on display as well.

BikeDekho Says
Honda sticking to the swap-only model doesn’t really sound like a foolproof business idea especially when you consider its rival, the Vida V2 that comes with the flexibility of both home charging and battery swapping. The price cut may make the Activa e: more attractive to budget-conscious users only in cities with good swap infrastructure.

The electric scooter from Honda still costs more than most of its rivals, while still providing a shorter claimed range figure. And, riders looking for home charging may still find the BaaS model limiting. For now, the company appears to be refining its existing battery swap strategy based on market feedback, and we hope Honda introduces the option to charge at home in the future.

Of course, pollution free ride and contribution in environment saving. It is full of satisfaction and exciting. Good boot space to carry daily usages things like helmet and some small items. Ride quality is smooth and stable and breaking is also good. Need to work on range. Yes, The reason is clean design and style. Honda's provides less range so expecting some better range in coming days. Need to improve on battery warranty. There should be at lifetime warranty. Overall its is good in its price range.Read More
