Honda Activa 125 vs Suzuki Access 125: Which Is The Best?

Both the Honda Activa 125 and the Suzuki Access 125 are two of the most important models in the 125cc scooter segment. Also, both recently also got new variants, design updates, and more features. At first glance, they seem to serve the same purpose as reliable-everyday family scooters, but when looked at closely, they each carry a slightly different personality. Here’s how they stack up against each other:

Design

The 2025 Honda Activa 125 gets some noticeable changes to its styling. The headlamp has been made boxier and gets a chrome highlight above it. The front apron has been reworked with larger turn indicators and also a chrome panel insert between them. It still looks very much like an Activa - a scooter designed with family buyers in mind - but the refreshed touches help it appear more sophisticated.

The Honda Activa is available in 6 colours: Rebel Red Metallic, Mat Axis Grey Metallic, Pearl Deep Ground Gray, Pearl Igneous Black, Pearl Precious White, Pearl Siren Blue. The Anniversary Edition gets special gold coloured graphics with 2 colours: Mat Steel Black Metallic and Pearl Siren Blue.

In comparison, the Suzuki Access 125 has retro-inspired styling but also receives a few changes to stay fresh. The LED headlamp is now boxier, the side panels feature sharper crease lines, and the tail section has been slightly updated. The Access comes in 6 colours: Pearl Grace White, Metallic Mat Black No. 2, Metallic Mat Stellar Blue, Solid Ice Green, Pearl Shiny Beige, and Pearl Mat Aqua Silver.

Engine

Both 125 scooters use single-cylinder, air-cooled, OBD-2B and E20 fuel compliant engines that make 8.4PS at 6,500rpm. The Activa makes 10.5Nm, while the Access makes 10.2Nm - both at 5,000rpm, and they also get one-touch silent-starters.

Though the Honda scooter also gets an idle start/stop system that should help improve mileage in daily city riding conditions. But out in the real world, the difference comes down to character. While both are smooth and refined: the Activa feels a bit more reserved, while the Access has a livelier throttle response.

Underpinnings

Both scooters get a tubular underbone steel chassis, telescopic fork, monoshock (Activa’s is 3-step preload adjustable), 5.3-litre fuel tank capacity, 12-inch front wheel and 10-inch rear, both with 90-section tubeless tyres. Braking hardware is also similar with a front disc and rear drum on higher variants and both drum brakes on the base trim. The base drum variant of the Suzuki Access weighs 105kg kerb while the rest weigh 106kg. The Activa 125 DLX and Anniversary Edition weigh 107kg kerb, while the H-Smart weighs 106kg.

The Activa has an 18-litre boot while the Access gets a larger 24.4-litre underseat storage space. The Suzuki also has 2 apron-mounted storage pockets while the Honda only has 1. The Access’ seat (even floorboard) is longer at 856mm as compared to the Activa's 712mm. But, the Honda has a slightly lower seat at 765mm compared to the Suzuki’s 773mm. Both have similar ground clearances at 160mm for the Access, 162mm for the Honda Activa Scooter. 

Features

Both scooters get a 4.2-inch TFT console with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, phone alerts, music controls, voice commands, real-time weather updates, and last park location. But Suzuki only offers the TFT with the top-spec ‘Ride Connect TFT Edition’, the other variants get an LCD console - but the features remain the same. The Suzuki scooter also gets a hazard light switch, while Honda adds keyless ignition to the top H-smart variant.

Other features common on both include LED headlight and tail light, halogen indicators, a USB type-C charging port on the left side of the inner apron, external fuel filler cap, a rear brake lock, side-stand down engine cut-off sensor, and multi-function ignition key slot (no need to take out the key to open the seat or fuel filler).

In the end, the choice comes down to what you prioritise - the Honda Activa 125 feels more premium and offers the TFT console, connected features right from the base model. The Suzuki Access 125 meanwhile offers more variety in its lineup with a lower starting price, greater practicality with more storage, a longer seat-floorboard combination, also feels sportier and lighter on its feet.
