Hero Hunk 440, Xpulse 200 Launched Abroad: Hero Makes An Offer Italians Can't Refuse

Hero MotoCorp has entered the Italian market with 2 models: Hero Hunk 440 and the Hero XPulse 200 4V lineup. The Hunk 440 is a re-badged version of the Mavrick 440, with some changes. On the other hand, the XPulse 200 4V lineup includes the XPulse 200 4V and the Pro variant with the longer travel suspension. Here’s everything you need to know:

Hero ‘Hunk 440’

The Hero Hunk 440 is something that caught our interest. Although it is the Hero Mavrick 440, but with a different name, the brand has made some pretty meaningful changes. The first of which is the new gold-finished inverted fork. It looks a lot more premium than the Mavrick’s telescopic fork.  

Second, the bike also gets a single-pod instrument console - similar to the one we have seen on the Harley-Davidson X440. Here’s an interesting fact: Hero showcased this version of the Mavrick at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo (Auto Expo 2025). While the Mavrick 440 has become irrelevant in India (here’s how), we recently spotted the updated bike at what looked like an ad shoot. Though we hope the Hero launches the updated Mavrick in India, it is most likely that the commercial shoot was for the Italian market. 

Other than the addition of the new suspension setup and the console, the bike remains unchanged in terms of performance. It is still powered by the same 440cc, air and oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine, producing 27PS and 36Nm. The bike is offered at an ex-showroom Italy price of 3,990 Euros, which comes to around Rs 4.10 lakh. For perspective, Hero still lists the bike in India, and it costs Rs 2,39,924 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top-end variant.

Hero XPulse 200 Lineup

This includes both the standard Hero XPulse 200 4V and the Hero XPulse 200 4V Pro. Both the bikes feature the same 199.6cc, air and oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine which produces 18.9PS and 17.35Nm. 

The main difference between the two variants is the underpinnings. The XPulse 200 4V Pro features longer travel suspension and higher ground clearance. Here’s a detailed breakdown:

The Hero XPulse 200 4V is priced at 2,990 Euros, which comes to around Rs 3.07 lakh. The XPulse 200 4V Pro, on the other hand, is priced at 3,190 Euros or Rs 3.28 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom Italy rates. Comparatively, the XPulse 200is priced at Rs  1,40,047 in India, whereas the Pro variant will set you back Rs 1,52,031 (both ex-showroom, Delhi)..

Italy operates a 3-tier license systemL A1, A2 and A. Beginner riders are issued A1 license, which only allows them to ride bikes that produce less than 15PS(essentially 125cc two-wheelers). Once they get enough experience, they upgrade to an A2 license, allowing them to ride bikes that produce up to 47PS. With enough experience, riders can get the A license, which will allow them to ride bikes that produce more than 47PS. 

With the two launches, Hero is in a good position to target A2 license holders. The Hunk 440 is perfect for those who might be looking for a premium roadster. Whereas the XPulse lineup is ideal for those who are trying to get into off-road riding. 

This tiered licensing system will be extremely helpful in minimising two-wheeler accidents. Currently, if you have the money (but not the skill), you can still go ahead and buy a superbike. This severely increases the chances of losing control without the proper experience. A tiered system will ensure potential buyers have the right amount of skills to ride powerful motorcycles safely.
