The launch of the much-awaited Aprilia SXR 160 is just around the corner. Production for the scooter is expected to begin soon. Aprilia dealerships have already started accepting unofficial pre-bookings for the scooter for a token amount of Rs 5,000. More importantly, we’ve managed to get our hands on all the colour options. It will come in a total of four liveries: red, blue, white and black.
As for the design, the SXR 160 features a prominent front-end inspired by the bigger scooters, wide bars, a large footboard, and a long, comfortable seat. Other notable features include LED lights all around and an LCD console with readouts such as instant mileage, average speed, external temperature and battery voltage. You even get a charging socket for added convenience.
The SXR 160 uses the same 160cc single-cylinder engine seen on the SR 160, which makes 11PS and 11.2Nm. However, Aprilia may retune the engine to accommodate the added heft.
While Aprilia hasn't disclosed the price of the SXR 160, our sources suggest the maxi-scooter could be priced around Rs 1.24 lakh (ex-showroom). It currently doesn't have a direct rival but it could be a tempting premium alternative to the Suzuki Burgman Street.
