Upcoming Yamaha R2: What To Expect
The bike is most likely to be sold alongside the R15, and will compete with the KTM RC 200 and the Hero Karizma XMR

Yamaha is all set to expand its supersport lineup in India with the upcoming YZF R2, which is expected to be sold alongside the Yamaha R15. Here's everything we expect from the upcoming R2.
What to expect?

The R2 is expected to be powered by a 200cc liquid-cooled engine, based on the R15’s tried-and-tested 155cc motor that also powers the Yamaha MT-15 and the Yamaha XSR155. It is expected to make around 25PS and 20Nm and will be paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Along with this, it is also expected to feature Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), similar to that present in its smaller sibling.
The R2 is most likely to share its underpinnings with the R15 V4, with the same Deltabox frame along with an inverted fork and a linked rear monoshock suspension. It will ride on 17-inch wheels and will get disc brakes on both wheels.
In terms of features, the bike is most likely to get a TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation and call/SMS alerts. It might also get a ride-by-wire throttle, which would enable features like ride modes and even a bidirectional quick shifter. In terms of safety features, the bike should get dual-channel ABS along with switchable traction control.
Launch Timeline

Yamaha is expected to launch the YZF R2 in India on August 27, and it will be manufactured at Yamaha's Chennai facility alongside its smaller 155cc siblings.
Price & Rivals
The Yamaha R2 is expected to be priced at around Rs 2.15 lakh (ex-showroom), making it more expensive than the Yamaha R15 M (Rs 1.86 lakh to Rs 1.98 lakh) but still slightly lower than the KTM RC 200. Priced at Rs 2.24 lakh (ex-showroom), it is the main rival to the Yamaha R2, along with the Hero Karizma XMR 210.
