Bajaj Avenger 160 Street Discontinued; 220 Street Makes A Comeback
Smaller engine out, bigger cruiser in!

Bajaj has reshuffled its Avenger lineup once again, and this time, it marks the end of the smaller-capacity Street model. The brand has removed the Avenger 160 Street from its official website and reintroduced the Avenger 220 Street, bringing back a familiar nameplate after a hiatus of a few years.
Bye-bye 160, Hello 220!
The Avenger 160 Street has been silently discontinued, effectively ending Bajaj’s entry-level cruiser offering in the Avenger range. With this move, Bajaj Auto seems to be simplifying its portfolio by focusing only on the higher-capacity 220cc platform.

Interestingly, the Avenger 220 Street has made a return after being taken off the shelves back in 2020. It now joins the Avenger 220 Cruise as the only two models listed on Bajaj’s website. While there’s no official launch announcement yet, its presence online confirms that the bike is back in the lineup.
Same Tried-And-Tested Engine
Mechanically, there are no surprises here. The Avenger 220 Street continues to use the same 220cc, oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine as the Cruise variant. This motor delivers 19PS at 8,500rpm and 17.6Nm at 7,000rpm, paired with a 5-speed gearbox.
In comparison, the discontinued 160 Street featured a smaller 160.4cc engine producing 15PS and 13.7Nm. The shift to a single engine platform should make things simpler for buyers while also aligning the Avenger range more closely.

Similar Design And Hardware
From what’s visible, the 220 Street remains largely unchanged from its earlier iteration. It continues with its low-slung cruiser stance but gets a more urban appeal with blacked-out components and alloy wheels. The bike will be available in two colour options: red and black.
On the hardware front, it sticks to a conventional setup. Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers. Braking is managed by a front disc and rear drum combination, supported by single-channel ABS.
Expected Pricing
While Bajaj hasn’t revealed the price yet, the Avenger 220 Street is expected to be positioned slightly below the Avenger 220 Cruise. For reference, the Cruise variant currently retails at around Rs 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
With the 160 Street gone and the 220 Street back, Bajaj seems to be doubling down on the 220cc segment for its cruiser lineup. This move not only simplifies the range but also gives buyers a more powerful and highway-capable option as standard.
User Reviews
Best in the segment for CruisingI chose this bike for the comfort in city as well as long rides. I have driven this bike for more 40K Km and I am happy with this bike. The only concern I have is about the safety as the leg guard is too short compared to the other bike and the as there is a gap from where you rest you feet for shifting gear and braking as it does not cover the feet. The ride is good, it is low maintenance if you take good care of the bike, also long routes are amazing as there is no fatigue. Cons is just about the handling as this a cruiser bike so it is not everyone ride. Definitely this bike is for the people who like comfort low maintanence. If you get a hand on the back seat then the comfort is next level. The mileage is good in the city and if you go for a long ride then you will get a good mileage which can be 40 plus.Read More
I’ve been using the BajajI’ve been using the Bajaj Avenger Street 220 (STD) for a while now, and I’d like to share my honest opinion based on my riding experience. The first thing that caught my attention is its stylish street cruiser look. The low-slung design, matte black finish, and wide handlebars really give it a powerful road presence. It feels like a big bike but comes at a price that’s still affordable. In terms of comfort, it’s honestly one of the most relaxing bikes I’ve ridden. The riding posture is laid-back, and the seat is broad, making long rides smooth and enjoyable. It doesn’t strain your back even on longer routes. The 220cc engine delivers a smooth and punchy performance. Whether I’m cruising in the city or hitting the highway, the power is enough for my needs. It pulls well even with a pillion and has a good pickup.Read More
