Bajaj Pulsar 125 vs Bajaj Pulsar 150: Top 5 Differences Explained

The Bajaj Pulsar 125 and the Bajaj Pulsar 150 are based on the same platform and while they look pretty much identical, there are more than a few mechanical and stylistic differences. Here’s a look at the 5 major differences between the two bikes:

Engine

The Bajaj Pulsar 125 is powered by a 124.38cc, single-cylinder, 2-valve engine producing 11.8PS at 8,500rpm and 10.8Nm at 6,500rpm. It is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The Bajaj Pulsar 150, on the other hand, is powered by a 149.50cc, single-cylinder, 2-valve engine producing 14PS at 8,500rpm and 13.4Nm at 6,500rpm. It is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. 

Seats

The Bajaj Pulsar 125 is available in two variants: Carbon Fibre and Neon Single Seat. The Carbon Fibre variant can be had with either a single-piece seat or a split seat. The Neon variant is only available with a single-piece seat.

The Bajaj Pulsar 150 is available in two variants: Pulsar 150 SD and Pulsar 150 TD. The SD has a single-piece seat while the TD has a split-seat.

Brakes

The Pulsar 125 is available with a 240mm disc brake at the front and a 130mm drum brake at the rear, and it doesn’t have ABS.

The Pulsar 15 has a 260mm disc brake at the front and a 130mm drum brake at the rear on the SD variant.  The TD variant has a 280mm disc brake at the front and a 230mm rear disc brake. Both variants have dual-channel ABS as standard. with dual-channel ABS.

Colour Options

In the Pulsar 125, the Carbon Fibre is available in two colours: Blue, and Red, for both seat options. The Neon variant has 4 colour options: Black Silver, Black Blue, Black Red, and Black Green.

Both the variants of the Pulsar 150 have the same colour options: Sparkle Black Red, Sparkle Black Blue, and Sparkle Black Silver. In terms of graphics, the Pulsar 150 has big ‘150’ lettering across the sides of the fuel tank, while the 125 just has colour-matched accents on the sides. The rest of the graphics on the fuel tank, headlight cowl, engine guard, wheels and the tail section are pretty much similar on both bikes. 

Price

The Bajaj Pulsar 125 is priced at Rs 79,048 for the Neon Single Seat variant. The Carbon Fibre Single Seat variant is priced at Rs 85,633, and the Carbon Fibre Split Seat variant is priced at Rs 87,527. 

The Bajaj Pulsar 150 is priced at Rs 1,05,144 for the SD variant and Rs 1,11,675 for the TD variant (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).

There’s a considerable price difference between the two bikes; between top variants, the 150 is about Rs 24,000. That’s a substantial price increase, however what you get for that is a bigger engine and ABS. Convenience features on both bikes are similar – a digital instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity for call/SMS alerts.

The price bump for 150 is justified with the increased performance and the safety net of dual-channel ABS. That said, the 125 doesn’t miss out on any of the features on the 150, which makes it a good choice if you only want features and don’t mind lower performance. Also, the Pulsar 125 should have a better mileage than the 150.
