Royal Enfield Himalayan 440: Features Explained

Royal Enfield has launched the Himalayan 440. It brings back the OG Himalayan 411 charm, but in an updated and more mature package. Its price starts from Rs 2,29,000 (ex-showroom, Tamil Nadu). Here is a detailed explanation of all the features the all-new adventure bike gets:

    Convenience Features

The Himalayan 440 features a semi-digital instrument console. It gets an analogue speedometer with a digital insert that has the fuel indicator, odometer, clock, gear-position indicator and trip meter.

Additionally, the bike gets a tripper navigation pod, which enables features such as Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. Also, the bike gets a USB Type-C charger that lets you charge your devices on the go.

The motorcycle has a seat height of 800 mm, which is relatively accessible for an adventure bike. The Himalayan 440 also gets a tall-ish windscreen, which helps reduce windblast and makes long rides more comfortable.

The bike comes with luggage mounts, allowing riders to mount the top box without having to opt for aftermarket accessories. This makes it more practical, considering the bike is positioned to go on long tours.

    Safety features

On the safety front, the bike gets 300 mm disc brakes at the front and 240 mm at the rear. It gets dual-channel ABS as standard, along with a switchable rear ABS. The latter is particularly useful for off-road riding, as it allows riders to slide the rear and manoeuvre the bike on loose surfaces easily.

    Bikedekho Says

The Himalayan 440 sits between the Scram 440 and the bigger and more expensive Himalayan 450. It will appeal to riders who prefer a torquey motorcycle, with only necessary equipment and tech. It is also a more affordable way to get into Royal Enfield’s adventure-bike lineup, making it a good option for those who want a capable ADV without spending too much.

Best cruising segment bike for on road and off road. May performance is best in segment. Powerful engine, previous version of this bike are pretty good but the current version are not practically good or styling. I expect, the upcoming version will fulfil that gap. Just waiting for the official launch of this
