2025 Hero Splendor Plus OBD-2B: Top 5 Highlights

The 2025 Splendor Plus gets more cleaner

The Hero Splendor Plus, India’s highest selling and most popular bike, has gotten an update which will make it more eco-friendly. Its engine is now OBD-2B compliant, and the bike is available in several variants. Here are top 5 highlights of the new Hero Splendor Plus that you need to know before you buy one:

OBD-2B Compliant Engine

The 2025 Hero Splendor Plus is still powered by the same 97.2cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 7.9PS and 8.05Nm, but is OBD-2B compliant now to meet the emission norms. It still gets the trusty 4-speed gearbox. The OBD-2B system measures emissions in real time to ensure they are always optimal. If there are any serious irregularities, it will alert the rider to get the bike checked at a service centre.

Price And Variants

The new Hero Splendor Plus OBD-2B is offered in six variants, all of which cost Rs 1,750 more than the older bike. Here’s a price list of all the variants:

Underpinnings

All the variants of the Splendor Plus have retained their underpinnings and get 18-inch alloy wheels with 80-section tubeless tyres at both ends. The telescopic fork, and the 5-step preload adjustable twin shock absorbers too have been carried over from the previous non-OBD-2B model. There’s anyway no need for any change in the suspension as it works fantastically in our Indian conditions. The brakes have remained the same for all other variants with 130mm drum at both ends, except the ‘Xtec Disc’ which gets a 240mm front disc brake. This variant is the only bike in the 100cc segment to get a front disc brake. While the drums are just about adequate, we’d always recommend a front disc for better braking performance.

Features

The 2025 Hero Splendor Plus comes with a halogen headlamp, an analogue instrument console with a speedometer, fuel gauge and tell-tale lights. On the other hand, the Xtec 2.0 gets a LED DRL with halogen headlamp and LCD instrument console with smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth. That said, it only offers call/SMS alerts and a phone battery level indicator. There’s no turn-by-turn navigation. The Splendor Xtec 2.0 gets the same digital connected console along with a full-LED headlight with integrated DRL. It also comes with a hazard lights function that turns on all the indicators.

All the variants (except the base) are equipped with Hero’s i3S system, that switches off the engine when idling for a while, and starts it with just a pull of the clutch, saving fuel. This is particularly useful in stop-go traffic.

For safety, the non-Xtec variants get features like a side-stand indicator but the Xtec ones have side-stand engine cut-off function.

Rivals

The 2025 Hero Splendor Plus, with its wide range of variants, has something for everyone, from a basic commuter to a feature-loaded bike with connectivity and a front disc brake. The 2025 Hero Splendor range rivals the Honda Shine 100, and the Bajaj Platina 100 in the 100cc commuter bike segment.
