The Yamaha V-Ixion R is the naked version of the Yamaha R15 Version 3.0 which is likely to make its India debut by late 2017

Yamaha has unveiled the new V-Ixion R for the Indonesian two-wheeler market. The new motorcycle is basically the naked version of the Yamaha R15 Version 3.0 which is likely to be launched in India by late 2017. Coming back to the Yamaha V-Ixion R, the styling of the naked motorcycle isn’t very striking. The design of the motorcycle feels a bit old while the chiselled fuel tank and the sharp extensions look good. It sports an LED tail lamp that endows the 150cc motorcycle with a well defined rear. The Yamaha V-Ixion R also gets a fully digital instrument console and the key-hole shutter similar to that of the Honda Activa.
Unlike the clip-on handlebars, as seen on the Yamaha R15 Version 3.0, the naked bike gets a flat and wide unit which should result in a more upright and comfortable riding posture. Powering the bike is the same 155cc, liquid-cooled engine as seen on the R15 Version 3.0. The single-cylinder motor develops 19.3PS at 10,000rpm, while peak torque of 14.7Nm is made available at 8,500rpm. The engine features Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle features a perimeter frame that Yamaha likes to call Deltabox. The bike sports telescopic front forks and a monoshock unit at the back. The above suspension geometry is interesting as, unlike its naked cousin, the Yamaha R15 Version 3.0 gets USD forks. This also leads to speculations that the Yamaha R15 Version 3.0 for our two-wheeler market might get telescopic front forks to keep cost low.
Braking responsibilities are handled by disc brakes on both ends, while ABS has been given a miss. Slipper clutch, LED headlight and USB charger come as standard fitment on the Yamaha V-Ixion R and it tips the scale at 131kg. Yamaha hasn’t divulged pricing for the motorcycle but it is expected to be priced between Rs 1.4 lakh and Rs 1.5 lakh in Indonesia. Will Yamaha India launch the new V-Ixion R in India? In our opinion the naked bike will not land on our shores as it comes very close to the Yamaha FZ-25 as far as pricing is concerned and displacement is a big factor for Indian buyers.
