Yamaha has discontinued the carbureted versions of the FZ and Fazer after the BS-IV emission norms were implemented from April 1, 2017. The carbureted FZ and Fazer were previous generation motorcycles that were sold alongside the new fuel-injected models. The fuel-injected variants of both the motorcycles with new and sharper design were launched in June 2014.
The carbureted FZ and Fazer were powered by a 153cc engine which developed 14PS @ 5000rpm and a peak torque of 13.6Nm @ 6000rpm. The fuel-injected FZ and Fazer are powered by a 149cc engine which produces 13.1PS @ 8000rpm and a peak torque of 12.8Nm @ 6000rpm. The fuel-injected versions make 0.9PS and 0.8Nm less power and torque respectively than the carbureted versions on paper, though the fuel injector does add crispness in the throttle response.

Both the motorcycles share the same cycle parts, while the only addition on the Fazer being its half fairing with twin headlamps. The bikes are built around a diamond-type frame chassis. Braking duties are handled by a 267mm disc brake at the front and 130mm drum unit at the rear. The bikes get telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. They are shod with 100/80 R17 tyres at the front and 140/60 R17 tyres at the rear. The FZ-FI and Fazer-FI weighs 132kg and 137kg respectively which is 4 kg lighter than the carburetted versions. The bikes gets 12-litre fuel tank, 790mm seat height and 160mm ground clearance.
The Yamaha FZ-FI, FZ-S FI and Fazer-FI are priced at Rs 80,726, Rs 82,789 and Rs 87,935 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Yamaha FZ FI User Reviews
- Mileage & FeaturesThe overall mileage of the bike is really impressive at around 48 kmpl. Features are good but sometimes feel more demand of power. The overall looks is also good comparing to the same segment bikes. The Dual Channel ABS should be there but it's manageable, don't felt the use of TCS till now. The posture makes you ride the bike for 150kms at once without any fuss & without any heating issue.Read More
