Yamaha R2: New Red Colour Imagined

Racing Blue has long been the signature shade across Yamaha's R-series bikes, but red has had its own place in the brand's performance history too

Yamaha R2 was launched on August 27, 2026, and the brand introduced three variants with five different colour schemes across the range. When it comes to colours, the Racing Blue is what most people associate with Yamaha's performance bikes, and the new R2 carries that tradition forward too. But blue isn't the only colour with a Yamaha racing connection. Red has shown up on several of the brand's sportier offerings over the years. So we decided to render the Yamaha R2 in Racing Red finish, with gloss black graphics and matching red alloy wheels, just to see how it looks.

Racing Red

The red paint does a good job of highlighting the R2's sharp fairing creases and makes the front stand out even more. This is probably the first colour a lot of enthusiasts would want to see on the R2.

Black is used across the fairing graphics, the tail section, around the engine, and on the exhaust, which stops the red from feeling like too much. It's a fairly straightforward race-liveried look, and it suits the R2's proportions well.

The red alloy wheels are what really tie the whole thing together. They match the bodywork and give the bike a more complete look than if the wheels had stayed black. The golden-coloured USD fork adds a bit of contrast against all that red too, and that combination looks properly premium.

Red isn't new territory for Yamaha either. The Yamaha R15 V4 gets a Metallic Red option. So a Racing Red R2 wouldn't look out of place in the brand's lineup.

This remains purely our visualisation, meant to imagine how the R2 could look in a Racing Red finish. That said, Yamaha has a habit of adding new colours to its R-series bikes well after launch, so a shade like this might not be entirely out of the question down the line.
