Yamaha R15 India vs Indonesia-spec Accessories Compared

The Indonesian R15 gets a few track-friendly add-ons that the India-spec bike misses out on. Here's how the two compare

The Yamaha R15 V4 is sold in both India and Indonesia, and the two bikes are almost identical on paper. Where they really differ is the official accessories catalogue. India's list is built around everyday practicality, while Indonesia's list is more towards sportiness and track use. Let’s explore them:

Accessories Price List

Accessories India Prices Accessories Indonesia Prices
Bluetooth Headset Y1+ Rs 3,500 Quick Shifter Rs 7,220 (Rp 1,330,000)
Adjustable Levers V2 Rs 2,720 Short Rear Fender Rs 2,877 (Rp 530,000)
Drive Chain Sprocket Kit (Brass) Rs 2,200 Racing Stand (R15M) Rs 2,443 (Rp 450,000)
Mobile Holder – Claw Grip Rs 2,100 Frame Slider (R15M) Rs 1,208 (Rp 222,500)
Mobile Holder – Water Resistant Rs 1,900 Lowering Kit Rs 1,644 (Rp 303,000)
Frame Slider Rs 1,749 USB Charger Daytona Rs 1,086 (Rp 200,000)
Lever Guard Rs 885 Fuel Cap Rs 548 (Rp 101,000)
Mobile Charger Rs 840
Seat Cover Rs 585
Skid Plate Rs 548
Chain Cleaner Brush Rs 217
Tank Pad Rs 175

Rupiah converted at roughly Rs 0.00543 per Rp; figures are approximate.

The India-spec bike's list covers the basics well, but it misses a few accessories that would suit a bike like the R15. A short rear fender, for instance, would sharpen the look of the R15's tail, something Indian owners often chase through aftermarket parts. A lowering kit would also help shorter riders, given the R15's 815 mm seat height, which is the same in both countries.

India-spec Yamaha R15 Accessories

Sure, there are plenty of aftermarket racing stands available in India, but having an official one would’ve been more satisfying. It’s not really a deal-breaking miss, though.

More importantly, the quickshifter is where the Indonesia-spec bike shines. By offering as an accessory, it lets the riders choose whichever colour they want for the bike and then add the quickshifter later. On the other hand, the India-spec R15 locks quickshifter behind specific colour variants.

If we had to pick the ones that should come to India, our choices would be the short rear fender, lowering kit and racing stand.

How is the Yamaha R15 V4 different in India and Indonesia?

R15 V4 is nearly identical in both countries. Both use the 155cc liquid-cooled engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), a 6-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch, a Deltabox frame, upside-down forks and dual-channel ABS. Traction control and Track/Street modes are also part of the package in both markets. The differences are only in the output figures and weights. That’s probably because of the emission norms, which often have an impact on both performance and weight. Also, the India-spec Yamaha R15 V4 can run on E20 fuel unlike the Indonesian bike.

The R15 costs noticeably more in Indonesia. Yamaha Indonesia lists the R15 Connected at Rp. 42,200,000 (about Rs 2.29 lakh). This is recommended on-road prices for Jakarta. In India, the standard R15 V4 starts at Rs 1,74,850 ex-showroom, Delhi. This difference is mainly due to how the local economics and tax regulations work.

Neat condition bike with awesome road presence

This bike is very good while daily riding is the main factor as the mileage is very good like 43 kmpl in city traffic and the maintenance cost is very low if you ride the bike properly. Also the road presence particularly of this edition is great. If you wish to look good while getting an optimum performance then you can definitely go for it. In my case this bike is in neat condition without any damages or missing parts. All the services done on time and so the warranty is valid.Read More

I had a brother who likes riding this old r15 and I was small and didn't knew any super bikes at all, and this was my first super bike which had all sharpnes at edges, the colour, the speed, it had some personality. Its been amazing bike so far, smooth, light weight. Its top speed is pretty good. It gives good mileage. It is very nice for long rides. Performance of the bike is so good. Suspensions works very well on road. Yes, for sure but take my opinion and explore different bike, It may have something that this bike wouldn't have that charm but you can go for it, if you want sporty look and a good racing bike.
