Yamaha MT-15 Teaser Video Released

The street naked is set to go on sale on March 15

The street naked is set to go on sale on March 15

[UPDATE: Yamaha has launched the MT-15 at a price of Rs 1.36 Lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi]

  • The Yamaha MT-15 will be powered by the R15’s 155cc, liquid-cooled motor.
  • The India-spec model will get conventional forks instead of upside down units.
  • It is expected to be priced at Rs 1.2 lakh (ex-showroom).

Yamaha is set to launch the MT-15 on March 15. We’ve already seen leaked images of the India-spec bike, but now Yamaha has released the official teaser video on its social media handles. Titled ‘Dark Side Of Japan’, the video is packed with Samurai motifs in a bid to remind viewers of Yamaha’s roots. Yamaha has used a similar marketing campaign in the past as well. Then, it was for the MT-09 naked streetfighter.

Back to the new video, it shows the 150cc naked sporting a blue paint job. Coincidentally, it is the same colour as the one seen on the bike that was spotted at a dealership a couple of days ago. The India-spec model features a couple of changes compared to the one sold in other markets. For starters, it gets black alloy wheels instead of the fluorescent units seen on the Thai-spec model. The bike bound for India also features chunky metal grab rails that are absent on the international version.

The MT-15 is powered by a 155cc, liquid-cooled motor which puts out 19.3PS of power at 10,000 and 14.7Nm of max torque at 8,500rpm. This is the same powerplant that we have seen on the R15 V3.0. Even the frame, brakes and the suspension are the same as the ones on the R15 V3.0. However, the naked street bike will feature conventional telescopic forks and a box-type swingarm instead of USD forks and a cast aluminium swingarm. And as an added safety net, the bike will be equipped with dual-channel ABS as standard.

There’s still no word about the price, but we expect the MT-15 to cost around Rs 1.2 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price, the only direct rival that the MT-15 has is the KTM 125 Duke. Yamaha will launch the MT-15 on March 15. So stay tuned to BikeDekho for more updates.

Complete package

This bike looks stunning and I have added extra loadings worth 5k on it like crash guards grab rail etc. This bike gives around 50kmpl mileage and when you want performance from it, it behaves like a 200cc bike with the VVA tech of yamaha. Overall this bike always brings smile to the rider's face. Maintenance cost is also low.

I driving sis 2021 to 2025, feel very easy to maintain very less maintenance and cost service around 1100 with agency. I drive this bike, 1.60 km four year and I cover almost all the Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh and I got all the area of tourist place in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Bihar, UP, Jharkhand, Kolkata, and I am very happy to use this motorcycle I have mt 15, 2021 model BS6 It is very lightweight. Very easy to handle and stability is very good on off-road or normal village and city Road is very good mileage of this motorcycle because it has the engine of 155 cc and the power is also very good I am also using this why I am driving. This bike 1.60,00,000 kilometre and I am very impressed with this machine service is very minimal. I suggest college students to buy this bike person who travel to Office who can also buy this bike because mileage and the power, and the looks is very good combination.
