Yamaha India Achieves 10 Million Production Milestone

The Japanese two-wheeler giant commenced its India journey in 1985

The Japanese two-wheeler giant commenced its India journey in 1985

  • The FZS-FI Version 3.0 was the 10 millionth model to roll out from the assembly line.
  • The last 5 million units were clocked just between 2012 and 2019.
  • As per the March sales report, Yamaha is the fifth largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India.

Japanese bike maker Yamaha has announced that it has achieved the 10-million production milestone in India. And the 10 millionth model which rolled out from the assembly line was the company’s best-selling motorcycle, the FZS-FI Version 3.0. Over the years, motorcycles such as the FZ and R15 have played a significant role in expanding Yamaha’s presence in India.

Yamaha has three manufacturing plants in India which are located in Surajpur, Faridabad and Chennai.  The last five million units were clocked in the last seven years (2012-2019) and during this period, the scooter segment has contributed to a whopping 44 per cent of the overall production. Yamaha says that the Fascino was the major contributor. It sold more than 15,000 units of the Fascino in the month of March.

While most of the bike makers saw a sales drop in the month of March, Yamaha was amongst the few ones who have reported positive growth. With 58,696 units, the Japanese bike manufacturer saw a growth of 25.3 per cent and has overtaken Suzuki and Royal Enfield for the fifth position.

The latest offering from Yamaha is the MT-15, which was launched in March this year. And the street naked motorcycle is turning out to be a huge hit for the company. It sold more than 5,000 units in the month of March, which is around 2,000 units more than its chief rival, the KTM 125 Duke. Going forward, Yamaha plans to focus its attention on performance bikes and we are excited to see what the future holds for the Japanese two-wheeler giant.

Yamaha FZ V3

Bike is a 2022 model and is very comfortable driving within the city and also it has good torque and height clearance is also good, has bulit in bluetooth which adds a extra layer safety from theft. If going for a long drive then also it is comfortable. In premium petrol can give an average upto 45-50 km.

Good Bike for 150cc variant

I chose Yamaha FZ due to the bike body style and of course for the Yamaha brand. The Bike comes with good mileage and riding on this bike is also comfortable. Exhaust sound is good and one thing about this bike which is different from other 150 cc bikes is the mileage and maintenance which is cost effective. Overall the ride is positive as the seats are comfortable within city ride. The long ride becomes difficult for the person who is seating on the back due to the seat density. Bike pickup is very poor, this is the biggest cons. If you are looking for a bike which gives you sporty look with great mileage then YES, Yamaha FZ V3 is the ultimate choice. But I would also recommend to check for other brands as well such as Honda and TVS.
