Even the most affordable Vespa is still quite expensive, so here’s what else you can get instead

Having already upgraded its engines to meet BS6 emission norms, Vespa has now facelifted its entire lineup. Well, they call it a facelift, but in reality, they’ve just added LED headlights. Nevertheless, prices have gone up once again, and the range starts with the VXL 125 at a rather exorbitant Rs 1,10,373. If you think that’s a little too steep for a 125cc scooter, here are some similarly priced alternatives:

Suzuki Gixxer

For just a little more cash, you can get yourself some more displacement and a far more masculine looking motorcycle. The Suzuki Gixxer is priced at Rs 1,13,941, and sports some pretty neat neo-retro styling. Its 155cc air-cooled motor also churns out a healthy 13.6PS and 13.8Nm, making it considerably quicker than the Vespa.

Honda XBlade

If neo-retro isn’t quite your thing then you can go for the thoroughly modern-looking and very swanky Honda XBlade. It’s got a sharp, angular design and a pretty fancy LED headlight that gives it a robot-like fascia. Throw in the signature X-shaped tail lamp and you’ve got yourself a real head-turner. All yours for Rs 1,10,968 for the double disc variant.

Hero XPulse 200

Xpulse 200

If you want your adventures to continue even when the road ends, then the perfect tool for the job is the Hero XPulse 200. Recently launched in its BS6 guise, it still packs in tons of suspension travel and ground clearance and rolls on wire-spoke wheels, making it a great off-road companion. At just Rs 1,11,790, it’s also the most affordable adventure bike in India.

Bajaj Chetak

At this sort of price point, you can also get something equally as stylish as the Vespa but still a whole lot friendlier to the environment. Yes, we’re talking about the Bajaj Chetak. It looks fantastic, the build quality is top-notch and if all you need is something to ferry you to work and back everyday, then this is the perfect choice. The Premium variant with a front disc brake will cost you Rs 1.15 lakh.
