TVS Jupiter Classic BS6: Same Price, Other Options

What else can you buy for the price of TVS’ first BS6 scooter?

TVS recently launched its first BS6 scooter in the form of the Jupiter Classic ET-Fi. The motor has been updated and now features fuel-injection. The Jupiter has also received an LED headlight, apron-mounted USB charger, and front visor. But all this has resulted in a price hike of nearly Rs 8,000, meaning that the BS6 Jupiter will put a dent in your pocket to the tune of Rs 67,911. So what else can you pick up for a similar price?

Honda Activa 125 BS6

Another BS6-compliant scooter on the market and, in fact, the first one launched in India is the Activa 125 BS6. It’s slightly larger in displacement than the Jupiter and though we don’t have official specs for the TVS, it’s safe to assume that the Activa has slightly higher engine output too.

It’s also packed with features like a stop-start system, a silent start feature, an LED headlight, and a digi-analogue instrument cluster. As a result of all this, it’s also slightly more expensive than the Jupiter, costing Rs 74,490 for the top-end Deluxe variant.

Suzuki Burgman Street

If you’re looking for something slightly more unconventional and funky in the same price bracket, the Suzuki Burgman Street is your best bet. It’s powered by the same 124cc motor as the Access but features maxi-scooter styling, which turns quite a few heads at traffic lights.

It’s also quite a well-equipped scooter, coming with LED lighting, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a DC charging socket. The Burgman will set you back by Rs 70,312, making it a decent value-for-money proposition.

Hero Maestro Edge 125

If outright performance is a high priority, the fuel-injected Hero Maestro Edge 125 should be high up on your shopping list. This peppy scooter is powered by a 124.6cc motor producing 9.25PS and 10.2Nm, making it the most powerful scooter on this list.

It also gets an underseat light, USB charger, LED DRL and side-stand indicator. Quality and finish levels aren’t quite as good as some of the Japanese scooters here, but the Maestro is rather entertaining to ride. It can be yours for Rs 63,200 for the fuel-injected variant.

Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi

Though not on our roads yet, Yamaha has launched the BS6-compliant Fascino 125 Fi. Its fuel-injected motor produces 8.2PS and 9.7Nm and also features an ACG starter as well as a stop-start system. A kerb weight of just 99kg makes it the lightest scooter in its class too.

It misses out on features like an LED headlight and digital instrumentation, but Yamaha does offer a combination keyslot, side-stand cut-off and a large 21L underseat storage space. Yamaha recently launched the scooter at Rs ?

Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon

If you’re not too keen on a scooter and would rather have a motorcycle instead, the Pulsar 125 Neon makes a strong case for itself. At Rs 66,618, it’s priced very close to the Jupiter but its engine output is certainly going to be substantially higher.

The 124.4cc air-cooled motor puts out 12PS and 11Nm, comfortably making it the most powerful two-wheeler on this list. The styling has been around for a while but still manages to look attractive, and the neon blue inserts inject some flair into the design.
