Hero Maestro Edge Expert Review

Launched to accelerate the sales momentum of Hero’s successful offering Maestro, the Hero Maestro Edge sports a spruced up design and greater performance than its predecessor. Hero Maestro Edge now comes updated with a list of advanced features that lacked in the previous model of Maestro. The 110cc scooter is employed with the mandatory Auto Headlamp On (AHO) unit, expressive new 3D emblem, and sharp LED taillights. Further laying its focus towards smart styling, the designers at Hero has equipped the scooter with features like – external fuel filling unit, mobile charging port, and boot light.

The new Maestro Edge also gets an anti-theft engine immobilizer system for enhanced safety and comprehensive digital-analog combo meter console. Pumping power down the veins of this stylish scooter is the efficient 110.9cc 4-stroke single cylinder, air-cooled engine unit that is capable of generating maximum power of 8bhp @ 7500rpm and a maximum torque of 8.7Nm @ 5500rpm. The variomatic drive that mates the engine offers seamless power transmission to the alloy wheels of the scooter. The scooter is equipped with front and rear drum brake unit that make up for efficient handling and braking performance.

The engineers at Hero has made no compromise with the ride quality of the scooter and has fitted Hero Maestro Edge with front telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers and rear unit swing with spring loaded hydraulic damper suspension. The stylish scooter is appointed with a premium quality paint job that comes in 7 single tone shades – Techno Blue, Panther Black, Pearl Silver White, Shooting Night Star, Matte Blue, Matte Vernier Grey, and Candy Blazing Red. With this, you can also go for the newly added dual-tone shades (Sporty Matte Grey & Red, and Active Matte Grey & Blue) by paying about Rs 1000 more than the standard price of Rs 50,330 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Hero Maestro Edge falls in a competitive 110cc scooter segment where its rivals include: Honda Activa 4G, Yamaha Ray Z, TVS Jupiter and the Mahindra Gusto.

The sophisticated styling of Hero Maestro now becomes stylish with the new Hero Maestro Edge. The 110cc scooter now comes appointed with aerodynamic sidelines, sharp headlamp assembly with AHO (Automatic Headlamp On), and all-black alloy wheels. The side stance of Hero Maestro edge gives an elegant look owing to the premium-quality paint finish and the 3D emblem embossed under the seat.

As we direct our attention to the rear body of the scooter, the stylish new LED tail lamps boast their existence. The stylish scooter is appointed with expressive digital analog combo meter console and integrated service reminder. Hero Maestro Edge is reloaded with convenience in the form of volumes with the features like – integrated mobile charging point, smart boot light, and the external fuel filler cap.

The engineers at Hero have worked meticulously on the power unit of the new scooter, which is the 110.9cc air-cooled, 4-stroke single cylinder OHC (Overhead Camshaft) engine. This mill is calibrated well to churn a peak power output of 8bhp @ 7500rpm in collaboration with a capable torque output of 8.7Nm @ 5500rpm. The claimed mileage for the Maestro Edge is 53kmpl and the engine transmits power to the variomatic drive of the scooter through the automatic clutch assembly.

Hero Maestro Edge is equipped with tubeless 90/100 - 10 - 53J rear tyres and larger 90/90 - 12 – 54J front tyres that account for commendable road grip while cornering or through narrow streets. The rear and front 130 mm drum brake units are calibrated to produce sufficient retardation and offer efficient handling. The ride quality of Hero Maestro Edge is further enhanced with its prompt suspension assembly that is a product of front telescopic type hydraulic shock absorbers and unit swing with spring loaded hydraulic dampers at the rear end.

Hero Maestro Edge now sports Auto Headlamp On unit (AHO) as a standard feature for all the models since April 2017 in compliance with the Government’s objective of enhanced road safety. The AHO unit ensures that a vehicle’s headlamp remains ON irrespective of the time of the day it is driven. This enables the rider with a better visibility of the road and reduces the chances of accidents. Along with this, Hero Maestro Edge comes equipped with front and rear drum brake units that make up for efficient braking performance and commendable handling.
