TVS Jupiter 110 vs Jupiter 125 Cheapest Variants: Top 5 Differences Explained

The TVS Jupiter 110 and TVS Jupiter 125 are some of the best selling scooters in the Indian market in the respective segments. Both offer a perfect balance between practicality, mileage and performance. Here we have compiled a list of the top 5 differences between these two family scooters which carry the same brand name, but are actually poles apart:

Design 

TVS has given both of these family scooters a soothing and likeable appearance, but they still carry a unique style when compared with each other. The TVS Jupiter 110 gets a more minimalistic look but with neat creases. There are no additional chrome elements other than the ‘Jupiter’ and ‘TVS’ bagding on the side panels. The base drum variant is available in three solid colour options: Meteor Red Gloss, Titanium Grey Matte and Lunar White Gloss. All of these colour options are quite attractive, but we personally like the red paint scheme a bit more as it gives this family scooter a bit of a sporty vibe. 

The TVS Jupiter 125, on the other hand, gets curvier body panels along with some hard-to-miss chrome elements for a premium touch. There is chrome garnishing on the headlight cowl, apron and side panels. Just like the smaller Jupiter, the base variant of the Jupiter 125 is also offered in three colour options: Indie Blue, Titanium Grey and White. The Indie Blue paint scheme is the one we liked the most, but note that except that one, the other two are identical to that available for the Jupiter 110.

Engine

The TVS Jupiter 110 gets a 113cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that makes 8PS and 9.2Nm. This engine offers usable performance for the city with a linear acceleration. It is also quite fuel efficient as it was able to return a mileage of 55.93kmpl in our real-world tests.

Despite the bigger 124.8cc engine in the TVS Jupiter 125, it makes only 0.2PS more. The more important talking point is the torque, as it offers 1.3Nm more, which should come in handy in city commutes. In our real-world mileage test, the Jupiter 125 was able to return a mileage of 52.91kmpl, which is not too far off from the Jupiter 110’s tested real-world mileage! 

Underpinnings 

Both scooters use a steel tube frame with conventional telescopic fork and a rear monoshock. However the base variant of the Jupiter 110 comes with 12-inch steel wheels at both ends, while the base Jupiter 125 gets 12-inch alloys. Both of these scooters get the same tyre sizes measuring 90-section at both ends. 

They also get the same 130mm drum at both ends with CBS (Combined Braking System). The Jupiter 110 weighs  106kg, while the Jupiter 125 is 2kg heavier, at 108kg (both kerb). There’s only a 5mm difference in seat height with the Jupiter 125 having the shorter 765mm seat. The 163mm ground clearance (pretty good for Indian roads), and the 5.1-litre fuel tank (reasonable by scooter standards) are common for both. 

Features

The base variant of the TVS Jupiter 110 gets a basic instrument console with an analogue speedometer, fuel gauge and odometer. The Jupiter 125, on the other hand, gets a digital inset along with an analogue speedometer. The inset has an odometer, 2 trip meters, mileage and range indicators. Both scooters get an engine stop/start feature, but miss out on a USB charging port. More importantly, the massive 33-litre underseat storage and 2-litre cubby hole storage (on the apron) are common for both of these family scooters.

Price & Verdict

Both of these scooters were priced well, but after the new GST 2.0 price cut, they got even more affordable by almost Rs 7,000. At just Rs 3,200 more than the base variant of the Jupiter 110, the Jupiter 125 makes a lot of sense as it not only looks more premium, but is also equally practical, not to mention a slightly more powerful engine and almost as fuel-efficient as the 110cc Jupiter.
