Engine specifications, pricing, availability and more

TVS launched the first offering from its Racing Performance series yesterday, the RTR Apache 165RP. While it may look similar to the RTR 160 4V, the 165RP gets quite a few distinctive updates. Here’s everything you should know about it.

Based On The Existing Apache RTR 160 4V

The TVS Apache RTR 165 RP features the same design and bodywork as the standard RTR 160 4V. It retains the updated LED headlight, bulb indicators as well as the instrument console. The single piece seat with the black and red cover and TVS embroidered on the pillion seat has also been carried over.

But the Apache RTR 165 RP is draped in a special paint scheme of blue, white and red with the TVS race livery all over.

More Power Than The Yamaha R15 V4

TVS has made some notable alterations to the engine innards of the Apache RTR 165 RP. It houses a new cylinder head with a claimed 35 percent intake bump, twin electrode spark plug, 15 percent larger valves with high-lift cams and dual spring actuators, revised bore-stroke ratio of 1.37 and a dome-shaped piston for the higher compression ratio.

The 164.9cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor claims to dish out 19.2PS at 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm at 8,750rpm. That’s 1.5PS more than the stock bike and 0.8PS more than the new R15 V4. TVS also claims that the RTR 165 RP has a top-speed of 123kmph.

Similar Underpinnings As The Stock Bike

The TVS Apache RTR 165 RP gets the same chassis, telescopic fork and the monoshock as the standard model. It also uses the same 270mm petal disc but benefits from a larger, 240mm rear disc. TVS has also added a brass-coated chain and sprocket to the package.

Limited Numbers

TVS will only produce 200 units of the Apache RTR 165 RP. Not just that, the sales will be conducted online only, via TVS’ official website.

Asking Price

The TVS Apache RTR 165 RP is priced at Rs Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). That’s Rs 23,550 over the 2022 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Special Edition. Moreover, even the Apache RTR 200 4V costs about Rs 7,000 less than the 165 RP. So, which one will you buy?
