These will be the first ‘Black’ editions of the Bonnies to arrive in India

  • Slated to launch on June 12.
  • Feature blacked-out components instead of the chrome bits found on their regular counterparts.
  • Pricing is expected to be identical to their coloured versions.

The Bonneville series is Triumph’s highest selling range of motorcycles. The 900cc models are the gateway into the brand while the 1200cc models hark back to the good old times of British motorcycling. Ever since the launch of the current range in 2017, Triumph has been building ‘Black’ editions of a few of its models. Not to be confused by the black colour option, these Black edition bikes get blacked-out elements instead of chrome-/brushed metal-finished one. Triumph has shied away from bringing these models to India, until now that is, as the Bonneville T100 Black and Bonneville T120 Black editions will be launched on June 12.

We do not quite know why the Black editions never made it to India in the first place, perhaps it’s got to do with how understated the motorcycles look compared to their coloured counterparts. You will be hard pressed to find any particular item that isn’t given the dark treatment aside from the wire spokes, the throttle body covers, the rear twin shocks, and the emblazoned 3D Triumph logo. Both, the T100 Black and the T120 Black, get two colours as well. The former arrives in Jet Black and Matt Black while the larger-displacement model can be availed in Jet Black or Matt Graphite.

There aren’t any mechanical changes to report with these Bonnies already being BS6-compliant. Both the 900cc and the 1200cc parallel-twin engines haven’t lost out on performance while complying with the new emission norms. The Bonneville T100 will arrive in its own dedicated HT (High Torque) state of tune, putting out 55PS and 76.73Nm while the larger Bonneville T120 doles out 80PS and 105Nm.

In international markets, these Black edition models cost the same as the regular models and we expect the same in India as well.
