It might bear a striking resemblance to the Pulsar N250, but the new Pulsar N160 has got more than enough to stand out in its own right

Bajaj has launched the Pulsar N160, which is packed with performance and features, seeing how it is based on the same platform as the Pulsar N250 and F250, in India. Here are the highlights of the new middle member of the Pulsar family.
Design

At a glance, the Bajaj Pulsar N160 will be difficult to distinguish from its elder sibling, the Pulsar N250. It gets the same sporty streetfighter design with sharp floating body panels, a muscular fuel tank with edgy extensions, and a split seat setup. Adding to similarities are the LED projector headlight and frosted LED DRLs borrowed from the N250. That said, the bike looks sporty and attractive.
Engine

Powering the Pulsar N160 is an all-new 164.82cc single-cylinder, air-and-oil-cooled engine. Yep, it is quite different from what powers the Pulsar NS160, though they both have more or less the same cubic capacity on paper. The new mill is capable of 16PS (1.2PS less than NS160) and 14.65Nm and comes with a five-speed gearbox.

Equipment and Features

The Bajaj Pulsar N160 features a semi-digital ‘infinity’ instrument cluster borrowed from the N250. It displays readouts like gear position indicator, time, fuel and range indicator, and also comes with a USB charging socket. However, it misses out on Bluetooth connectivity.
While it comes with single-channel ABS as standard, the Pulsar N160 also comes in a segment-first dual-channel ABS variant for extra safety while braking.
Price

The Bajaj Pulsar N160 in its single-channel ABS avatar retails at Rs 1,22,854, which is the same as the Pulsar NS160. The dual-channel ABS variant comes at a premium of Rs 4,999, at Rs 1,27,853 (both prices ex-showroom Delhi).
Rivals

In the 160cc segment, the Bajaj Pulsar N160 rivals the likes of Hero Xtreme 160R (Rs 1,17,660), Yamaha FZ-S Fi V3 (Rs 1,20,400), Suzuki Gixxer (Rs 1,33,100) and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V (Rs 1,21,485, all ex-showroom Delhi).
