Bengaluru-based startup, Simple Energy launched its flagship electric scooter on August 15 at Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom Bengaluru). The pre-bookings commenced on the same day at Rs 1947, and in just four days, the scooter has managed to garner over 30,000 bookings.
The Simple One’s instant popularity could be partly credited to its ARAI-certified range of 230km in eco mode. In fact, the claimed real-world range of 203km in the same mode, is over 22km than the newly-launched Ola Electric S1. The Simple One comes with a unique combination of a fixed battery, and a removable battery pack that promises 60km range. It takes approximately 3 hours for the battery to charge to 80 percent.

The electric scooter comes with a mid-drive motor capable of producing a continuous power of 4.5kW and a peak torque of 72Nm. Simple Energy claims that the e-scooter can sprint from 0 to 40kmph in 2.95 seconds, making it the quickest e-scooter in the market. That said, the claimed top speed of 105kmph, is a slower than Ola Electric’s claimed 115kmph.
The Simple One will debut in 75 cities in 13 states in the next four to seven months. Simple Energy will also commence setting up its public charging network, called the Simple Loop in these cities.

- Range IssueIt’s been 3 weeks I bought Simple One in Bangalore Marathahalli Showroom. While buying g this I had enquired Ather, Ola as well. Ather was fantastic but didn’t go for it because of its low range. OLA didn’t like riding comfort and also due the on going service issues didn’t preferred. Finally I choose Simple one over Ather because of only one reason ‘190’ km range what they claimed. But it it really failed and didn’t meet the said range, so far I had driven 210km mostly in Eco mode only (max 20km would have driven in ride mode which is is just above the Eco mode) and charged 3 times. When I raise this issue to service centre they have updated software and assured the problem should be solved. Surprisingly the issue still exist and it gave me only ~60km in a full charge, when I raise this issue to service centre (Mahadevapura, Blr) they said scooter has to ride at least 500km then things will fall in place.
