The electric bikes and scooters that will carry you the furthest on a single charge, supposedly

When we talk about electric vehicles, one of the toughest hurdles to cross has been range anxiety. However, quite a few EVs in India have managed to mitigate the issue. Previously, it was the Revolt RV 300, Kabira KM4000, Odyssey Hawk Plus, Revolt RV 400 and the Okinawa i-Praise to do so. Now, a few new names have joined the list of EVs to offer an even better range in India than before.

Gravton Quanta

In June 2021, Hyderabad-based EV startup, Gravton Motors, launched its first electric offering in the form of the Quanta. Priced at Rs 99,000 (ex-showroom, Hyderabad) at the time of launch, the Gravton Quanta claims to offer an incredible range of 320km! The caveat is that the range has been achieved at an average speed of 25kmph from its dual-battery pack. It’s powered by a 3kW in-house-built BLDC motor with a peak torque of 180Nm at the wheel. So, if you are looking for a no-nonsense electric vehicle with a long-range, then the Gravton Quanta is hard to overlook. However, it’s only available in Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru.

Ultraviolette F77

Ultraviolette F77

Bengaluru-based EV manufacturer Ultraviolette has finally launched the F77 electric motorcycle in India. It is not only the fastest EV two-wheeler in the country with 147kmph top speed but also one offering one of the highest ranges --  307km IDC (Ideal Driving Conditions). Its 10.3kWh fixed battery pack is the largest in the country and weighs about 70kg. Apart from looking stunning, the F77 also packs a bunch of interesting features and more, and you can head to the launch story here for more details on the same.

Simple One

Simple One launch

Simple Energy finally launched the Simple One electric scooter at a starting price of Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom, including the revised FAME 2 subsidy). Compared to the one unveiled in 2021, the latest iteration comes with a slightly lower 225km claimed IDC (Ideal Driving Conditions) range. That said, the total battery capacity has gone up from 4.8kWh to 5kWh (3.5kWh fixed and 1.5kWh removable). Apart from that, the One is loaded with features like music control, navigation, geofencing as well as a tyre-pressure monitoring system. Deliveries commence from June 6, 2023, starting with Bengaluru, in a phase-wise manner. You can read more details in our launch report here.

iVOOMi S1 240

iVOOMi has updated its S1 electric scooter with the S1 240 and the S1 200. The former has a very impressive claimed IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range of 240km. It is powered by a 2.5kW hub motor backed by a twin battery pack with a combined capacity of 4.2kWh. With a range like that and a top speed of 51kmph, this seems like a great option for commutes, right? You can get one for Rs 1,21,000 (ex-showroom).

Ola S1 Pro

Ola Electric launched the S1 electric scooter in India on August 15, 2021. The top-spec variant, Ola S1 Pro is priced at Rs 1,29,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru) and offers a claimed range of 181km. It packs a 3.97kWh battery. Ola claims that the S1 Pro’s battery can be charged up to 75km in just 18 minutes, from a fast charger. However, from a regular charger at your home, it’ll take 6 hours and 30 minutes for a full charge. So, if you are looking for a funky-yet, feature-rich and performance-oriented electric scooter, the Ola S1 Pro is for you.
