The Simple One is not the only product that will debut next week

Bengaluru-based Simple Energy is all set to debut its first electric scooter, the Simple One, on August 15. Now, with less than a week for its launch, we have got our hands on some interesting details about the Ather 450X-rivalling electric scooter.

The Simple One electric scooter boasts of a 30-litre underseat storage. That’s 8 litres more than the Ather 450X and 8.5 litres more than the Suzuki Burgman Street 125 which has the highest storage capacity amongst the ICE scooters in our market.

This also hints at the fact that Simple Energy has opted to house the battery pack under the floorboard, similar to what Ather has done. This helps keep the centre of mass low and results in better control.

Another big news leaked ahead of the launch is that the startup is not just launching the scooter but also introducing its fast-charging network, called the Simple Loop. It has a charging capacity of up to 2.5km a minute, making it convenient for on-the-go use. With an ARAI certified range of 230km, range won’t be an issue to begin with.

The company intends to set up over 300 charging stations across 13 states in India in the coming months by partnering with shopping malls, restaurants, and other establishments Interestingly, these chargers will be compatible with all kinds of electric scooters -- something that hasn’t been attempted so far in the electric two-wheeler industry.

Simple Energy One is one of the highly anticipated launches in the two-wheeler space this year. Simple Energy will first launch in Bengaluru, followed by Chennai and Hyderabad. 13 states, including Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh And Goa will soon have the Simple One electric scooter. The young company plans on pricing its flagship e-scooter between Rs 1.10 lakh and Rs 1.20 lakh.
