New Honda CBR300RR In The Works?

The new motorcycle could be restricted to certain South East Asian markets

The new motorcycle could be restricted to certain South East Asian markets

  • The CBR300RR will be based on the CBR250RR.
  • Aims to go up against the likes of the Yamaha YZF-R3 and the Kawasaki Ninja 400.
  • Might get ride-by-wire, riding modes and Showa USD fork.

Rumours of a larger version of the Honda CBR250RR have surfaced on the internet as it seems that the Japanese manufacturer is building a CBR300RR. This 300 is unlike the CB300R available in India as it would come with a parallel-twin engine. With the CBR300RR, Honda is aiming to go toe-to-toe with the likes of the Yamaha YZF-R3 and the Kawasaki Ninja 400.

It is touted to arrive with a parallel-twin motor derived from the CBR250RR’s 249cc twin-cylinder engine. The CBR250RR’s mill makes 38.7PS and 23.3Nm which is pretty impressive for a 250cc motorcycle. The new engine will likely retain the ride-by-wire system with 3 riding modes. Even in terms of components used, the CBR300RR might retain the 37mm Showa USD fork, link-type monoshock and petal discs with Nissin calipers from the 250.

If you recollect, Honda had updated the CBR250RR last year. While the bike did raise many an eyebrow, we were sure that Honda India might not bring this racy supersport to the country. And again it is unlikely that we will see this CBR300RR on our roads any time soon.

Honda CB300R handles very poorly

I personally feel that Honda CB300R handles very poorly compared to other bikes in this segment. The bike being light in weight, high wind speeds easily topples the whole bike and makes it exceedingly unstable at speeds above 80 kilometers per hour. I ride this bikes at city approx 34 kmpl on soft throttle which is low. I do not even hard push the bike on highways.Read More
