Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India recently filed the patent for the design of the NPF 125 scooter in India. It is powered by the same engine as the Activa 125.
Design
The Honda NPF 125 features a sharp, angular design with a front apron that houses a split-type LED headlamp, while the turn indicators are positioned slightly lower. The rear section has an H-shaped tail light and a grab rail integrated into a top box luggage mount.
Features
The NPF 125 is equipped with an LCD instrument cluster, keyless ignition, all LED lighting, and also gets a USB Type-C charger. It also offers dual storage cubby holes on the front apron and has a 14.3-litre under-seat storage compartment.
Engine
The NPF is powered by a 124cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that is shared with the Activa 125 and the Dio 125. The power output is 9.5PS and 10Nm, which is 1.2PS more but 0.5Nm less than the Activa 125, and it has a top speed of about 90kmph.
Underpinnings
The scooter gets a telescopic fork and monoshock suspension. It runs on a 12-inch front and a 10-inch rear alloy wheel setup, wrapped in 90-section and 100-section tubeless tyres, respectively. In terms of brakes, it gets a front disc and a rear drum setup, with the base variant featuring a combined braking system (CBS) and the top variant offering ABS. The fuel tank capacity is 5.7 litres.
Expected Price and Launch Date
Since the design patent has been just filed, the NPF is expected to be launched in a couple of years time. It is likely to be priced around Rs 5,000 - Rs 6,000 more than the TVS Ntorq, whose prices range from Rs 85,000 - Rs 1,05,000.
Rivals
After its launch, the NPF 125 will compete with other sporty and performance oriented 125cc scooters like the TVS Ntorq 125, the recently launched Hero Xoom 125, the Yamaha Ray ZR 125, and the Suzuki Avenis.

While the patent filing has generated interest, Honda has not confirmed the NPF 125’s launch in India. The company has previously patented several international models without introducing them to the Indian market. However, given the increasing demand for feature rich and sporty 125cc scooters, the NPF could serve as an alternative to others in the same segment. An official announcement regarding the NPF’s availability in India is awaited.
