Will it come to India?

The Honda CBF190TR will be sold under the China-only CB190 range. The neo-retro scrambler borrows a few design cues from the CB300R. It gets an LED headlamp, digital instrument cluster and ABS, among others.

Honda has unveiled the CBF190TR in China. It is based on the China-only CB190 lineup and looks like a neo-retro scrambler. Built by Honda’s Chinese subsidiary, Sundiro Honda, the CBF190TR features modern elements like an LED headlamp, a fully digital instrument cluster with an integrated USB port on the side, and single-channel ABS. The overall design language also has a hint of the CB300R’s genes in it. Also, the asymmetrically-designed fuel tank extensions give the bike a really unique look.

Powering the motorcycle is a 184cc single-cylinder air-cooled fuel-injected engine which churns out 15.8PS at 8000rpm and 15Nm of torque at 7000rpm. When compared to the CB Hornet 160R sold in India, the CBF190TR only makes 0.8PS and 0.5Nm more. It’s underpinnings include an inverted front fork and a monoshock at the rear. The bike comes to halt using petal discs on both ends. For mild off-roading, the motorcycle’s alloy wheels are shod with dual-purpose tyres.

It is unlikely that Honda will launch this motorcycle in India as the CB190 lineup is based on a completely different platform. Sure, the presence of fuel injection and ABS may make it perfect for the Indian two-wheeler market but Honda is generally known to be cautious about launching radically different-looking products in a segment that’s quite price-sensitive. Moreover, with the current downturn of the Indian automotive industry, Honda is more likely to concentrate on its bread-and-butter models rather than launching niche products.
