Comfort, ride quality, practicality and much more compared!

Scooters, especially in Indian households, are the backbone of the family. They are your go-to option for going from one place to the other, whether it be your parents going to the office, grandparents going to visit a religious place or children going to college. Scooters are practical, convenient and, most importantly, light on the pocket. According to us, the best family scooter you can buy right now is the TVS Jupiter 110. Yes, the 110cc model and not the 125cc. The Jupiter 110’s comfort, practicality and performance competes directly with other 125cc scooters. But now that the Access 125 has been refreshed and the new Hero Destini 125 launched, which should be your next family member? Let’s have a look at this ride comparison.

    Design

All three scooters look quite good and have some traits in each of them which make them stand out in their own way. The Hero Destini 125 has an old-school charm, which is evident through its dual-tone paint scheme. The scooter has a nice vintage vibe, which the older audience might appreciate more.

The Suzuki Access 125 on the other hand looks quite butch and manly. The rectangular headlight is quite good-looking and striking, and on the rear, the taillight, along with the indicators, will remind you of the Suzuki Hayabusa in some ways!

The TVS Jupiter 110, on the other hand, has a very modern design. The LED headlight, along with the LED DRL on the apron, stands out a lot from any other scooter on the road. The design is quite simple and will appeal to a wider range of audience.

We think the best-looking scooter out of the lot is the TVS Jupiter 110. The overall design makes the TVS Jupiter 110 gather the most road presence out of the three. All of them get alloy wheels and LED headlights, but the TVS Jupiter 110 is the only one which has a very cohesive design.

    Storage And Practicality

All three scooters have open cubby holes on the apron, bag hooks and an external fuel lid. But when it comes to the actual storage and practicality, the story is quite different.

The Hero Destini is the scooter with the least amount of underseat storage capacity out of the three scooters. Though it is the only scooter which gets an underseat storage light. The Destini’s fuel lid is located behind the scooter and has a slight inconvenience as one does not have the provision to rest the fuel lid cap.

The Suzuki Access 125 stands right in between with decent underseat storage capacity and makes a great case for itself though it lacks an underseat storage light. The Access too has the fuel lid located behind the scooter but has a provision to store the fuel cap.

The biggest underseat storage capacity of the three scooters is of the TVS Jupiter’s. The massive storage space of 33 litres means that all your groceries will fit right in without any struggle! The TVS Jupiter’s fuel lid is located on the front apron and has a single lid, which means that you will not need any place to store the fuel lid cap.

    Features

All three scooters get an LCD console with smartphone connectivity features and a USB charging port. The Destini and Access displays look quite outdated, as they are simple LCD consoles. The Jupiter 110 gets a negative-coloured LCD display, but it is quite cluttered and provides a lot of information at a glance.

The Destini and the Jupiter come with an auto stop/start system which shuts off the engine when idling for too long, while the Access misses out on it. The Jupiter and the Access have hazard lights features, while the Destini does not. The Access is the only scooter which comes with an engine kill switch.

While all the scooters get a decent amount of features, the TVS Jupiter is the one which stands out. The display has many connectivity features, it gets hazard lights, auto-cancelling indicators and a seamlessly working auto stop/start system.

    Ergonomics And Comfort

All three scooters provide a very different riding experience. They all have long enough seats to accommodate two adults comfortably. The Hero Destini has a very relaxed riding posture. The handlebar is set up high and feels very comfortable. The Suzuki Access has a very odd riding posture, especially for someone who is 6-feet tall. The handlebar is set quite low and feels very odd to ride. The TVS Jupiter has the best riding posture of the three and will make you feel the most comfortable.

The Hero Destini 125 has the softest seat of the three which one will like when riding in the city for shorter distances. The Suzuki Access 125 has the hardest seat of the three which is excellent for long distance commutes. The TVS Jupiter 110 has the best seat of the three, it is well-padded, and both short and long distance commutes feel effortless.

The TVS Jupiter takes the cake here as well. It has the most comfortable riding posture and the best seat of the three for both short and long-distance commutes.

    Performance

In this aspect, the Hero Destini 125 and the Suzuki Access 125 have an advantage over the TVS Jupiter 110.

    3.39 seconds

The Suzuki Access 125 is the quickest scooter out of the three from 0 to 40kmph. The performance is very linear, and highway speeds of 80kmph feel stressfree. The Hero Destini is quick up to 50kmph but struggles to pick up speed after that. The Jupiter, being a 110cc scooter, is the slowest of the three. Sure, it is the only scooter with a hybrid boost and has a sharp throttle response. It works best in city riding conditions, and at speeds above 60kmph, it feels very stressed.

The Suzuki Access 125 is the clear winner when it comes to performance. The linear power delivery and great top-end combined with the Japanese smoothness makes it out go-to choice for all members of the family.

    Handling And Ride Quality

The Hero Destini 125 feels the most eager to change directions. While it may appeal to enthusiasts, most people may find it unnerving and may not like it. The ride quality on the Destini is very plush. It absorbs all bumps and potholes quite well and provides a magic-carpet-like experience. However, at highway speeds, the scooter feels bouncy and unsettled because of the soft suspension setup.

The Suzuki Access 125 handles quite well and feels the most stable through corners. But on broken roads, potholes and through bumps, the Access feels the most uncomfortable due to the stiff suspension setup. The highway ride quality is better on the Access as the stiff suspension setup works well in its favour and keeps the scooter stable.

The TVS Jupiter is the best handler of the three. The scooter feels very composed through corners and inspires a lot of confidence. The ride quality is also levels ahead of the competition. It absorbs all bumps and potholes without feeling unsettled. The suspension is well-damped, and even on highways, it is very stable.

    Price

The TVS Jupiter is the most affordable scooter out of the three while the Suzuki Access 125 is the most expensive. The Hero Destini 125 sits right in between the two.

    TVS Jupiter 110

    Suzuki Access 125

    Hero Destini 125

    Verdict

If you are someone who commutes in the city the most, the Hero Destini makes the most sense as it is the most comfortable scooter out of the three. If your daily commutes consist of broken roads and carrying a pillion, the Destini makes the most sense for you. One will have to compromise on the features it gets and the storage capacity available.

If you are someone who lives in hilly areas and commutes on highways daily, the Suzuki Access 125 should be your go-to choice. It has the best performance out of the three scooters and feels the smoothest to ride. Although you will have to slow for broken roads quite a lot because of the stiff suspension.

The TVS Jupiter, while being the smaller capacity scooter out of the three, it never fell out of the picture. It is the most feature loaded, has the most underseat storage capacity, best handler and has more than enough performance for both city and highway commutes.

So do you really need a 125cc scooter? The TVS Jupiter is the answer to your question. It has more space than most 125cc scooters, similar levels of performance and handles very well. It is a great all-rounder and is still one of the best family-oriented scooters on sale in India.
