Liquid-cooled tech in a 125cc scooter, but will India get it?

Honda Click 125 Patented In India; Makes More Power Than The Activa 125

Honda has patented yet another scooter design in India, something it has done multiple times in the past without necessarily following it up with a launch. This time around, the spotlight is on the Honda Click 125, a sporty, step-through scooter that’s already on sale in markets like the Philippines.

    Sportier Than The Activa

Unlike the more family-oriented Honda Activa 125, the Click 125 has a much sharper and more aggressive design. It gets apron-mounted LED headlights (looks similar to the Yamaha Aerox 155), bold graphics, and a stepped seat setup. The scooter rides on 14-inch alloy wheels, giving it a more planted stance and better road presence.

Other highlights include a fully digital console, smart key system with keyless functionality, a USB Type-C charging port tucked into a small front storage space, and an 18-litre underseat storage area.

    Liquid-Cooled Advantage

Under the skin is where things get more interesting. The Click 125 is powered by a 125cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, something that’s quite rare in this segment. It produces 11.2PS and 11Nm, which is higher than the Activa 125’s output (2.8PS and 0.5Nm higher), thanks to the more advanced cooling setup.

Internationally, the scooter tips the scales at 111kg, offers 131mm of ground clearance, and has a claimed fuel efficiency of 49.3kmpl. It also gets a front disc brake, rear drum brake with CBS, telescopic fork, and a monoshock.

    Launch Chances In India

Honda has a history of patenting multiple products in India purely to secure intellectual property rights, without any intention of launching them.

However, if Honda does decide to bring it here, the Click 125 would stand out as a unique offering. It would go up against the VLF Mobster 135, currently the only other liquid-cooled 125cc scooter in the country. Meanwhile, more conventional air-cooled rivals would include the Hero Xoom 125 and the Aprilia SR 125.
