Affordable scooters under Rs 70,000 that bring a mix of style, features, and everyday practicality

    India’s Most Value-Packed Scooters

This Diwali, if you are thinking of buying an affordable scooter for yourself or your family, here are a pick of 5 scooters that cost between Rs 50,000 to Rs 70,000. In this range you’ll get scooters that are pretty simple, and convenient for quick runabouts. These are relatively easy to ride for any member of the family, making them rather easy choices to buy this Diwali.

    Yulu Wynn - Rs 55,555

    India’s Most Value-Packed Scooters

The Yulu Wynn has carved out a niche as one of the most practical ultra-budget EVs on sale in India. It’s designed with simplicity in mind, powered by a 250W hub motor and a 0.98kWh lithium-ion battery, which translates to a claimed range of 68km. Its top speed is capped at 25kmph, making it license and registration-free, which is a bonus for new riders or households that want a no-fuss option.

In terms of styling, it’s neat and compact, with a low 740mm seat height that makes it easy for anyone in the family to hop on and ride. Its feature list includes a digital speedometer, keyless entry, and swappable batteries for flexible charging. Drum brakes and tubeless tyres keep things safe and easy on the pocket. While it’s not meant for highways or heavy loads, the Wynn excels as an urban runabout. For students, delivery workers in gated areas, or families looking for a quiet, affordable electric companion, the Wynn stands out by being reliable where many cheap EVs fall short.

    VX2 Plus BaaS - Rs 57,990

    India’s Most Value-Packed Scooters

Hero MotoCorp’s EV arm Vida has been steadily expanding its portfolio, and the VX2 Plus with Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) is a clever way to make electric scooters affordable. Unlike the barebones Chinese budget EVs, the VX2 Plus is a more complete package. It uses two 3.4kWh removable batteries paired with a hub motor, giving it a claimed range of around 142km per charge. That makes it far more practical for everyday commuting compared to smaller EVs.

The BaaS model keeps the upfront cost down because you don’t need to own the battery outright. You can simply swap or rent them as and when needed. This flexibility is a big advantage for urban dwellers who can’t always charge at home. Features include a 4.3” LCD digital instrument console, riding modes, app connectivity, a reverse gear, and decent storage options. With a top speed of 80kmph, it’s quick enough for city commutes without feeling sluggish. Where the VX2 Plus shines is in its balance. It brings Hero’s big-brand assurance, a usable range, and flexible charging options, all at a price that’s competitive with low-speed EVs but with far more practicality.

TVS Zest Matte Series - Rs 68,300

    India’s Most Value-Packed Scooters

Not everyone is ready to go electric, and that’s where petrol scooters like the TVS Zest come in. It’s lightweight, compact, and easy to ride. The Zest is aimed squarely at riders who want fuss-free petrol power in the city. It packs a 109.7cc, air-cooled single-cylinder engine making 7.81PS and 8.8Nm, paired with a CVT for smooth acceleration. With a low kerb weight of just 103kgs, the Zest feels lively in traffic and returns excellent fuel efficiency.

It’s also practical since it offers a 19-litre underseat boot – one of the largest in its class, a USB charging socket in the front apron, tubeless tyres, and alloy wheels. The suspension setup comprises a telescopic fork up front and a monoshock at the rear, keeping it comfortable over bumps and potholes. The latest update brings in a full digital console with SmartXonnect loaded with practical features. Its styling is clean and approachable, with youthful touches that don’t alienate older riders either. For buyers who prefer petrol reliability but still want a scooter that’s easy to handle, light on the pocket, and versatile, the Zest is surely a strong contender.

    Honda Dio 110 STD - Rs 68,846

    India’s Most Value-Packed Scooters

It’s no surprise that the Honda Dio has been a favorite among young riders for years, thanks to its sporty looks and Honda’s famed refinement. Underneath, it runs a 109.51cc, air-cooled single-cylinder engine producing 7.9PS and 9Nm. It’s smooth, efficient, and easy to ride, while the light kerb weight of 106kg keeps it agile in the city.

Sure, the STD variant is the entry-level trim, but it still packs pretty useful features. You get silent starter , LED pilot and headlight, side-stand engine cut-off, an external fuel filler cap, plenty of storage, and a combi-brake system for safety. Its styling is sharp and youthful, with sculpted body panels, striking colors, and funky graphics that make it stand out from the crowd. While it doesn’t come loaded with tech, the Dio’s biggest strength is reliability. Honda’s engines are known to be long-lasting and low-maintenance, and service support is available practically everywhere. For younger buyers or those who want a scooter that feels more fun than functional, the Dio offers that blend of style and dependability.

    Hero Pleasure+ LX OBD2B - Rs 69,766

    India’s Most Value-Packed Scooters

The Hero Pleasure+ LX OBD2B rounds off this list as another petrol-powered option under the Rs 70,000 price bracket. Its 110.9cc engine makes 8.1PS and 8.7Nm, tuned for easy rides and a claimed efficiency of 55kmpl. Weighing just 104kg, the scooter is extremely easy to handle, especially for first-time riders or those who want a light scooter. Features include a comfortable seat, ample storage space, USB charging, and halogen lighting. Hero has also ensured the Pleasure+ meets OBD2B compliance as well, which means it’s future-ready for stricter emission norms.

On the design front, the scooter is more classic than flashy, appealing to riders who prefer understated looks over sporty lines. Its biggest strengths are simplicity, dependability, and the massive Hero service network that ensures affordable upkeep anywhere in India. For families and daily commuters alike, the Pleasure+ remains a trusted, value-rich choice.

    • Yulu Wynn
      Perfect for Daily City Travel
Main Yulu Wynn last month kharidi hai aur sach mein bahut khush hoon. Pehle toh look bahut cute aur premium hai, specially pastel colours. Riding experience bohot smooth hai, bilkul jerk nahi lagta. City mein daily 30-40 km chalata hoon (office + market) aur ek charge mein aaram se 70-75 km nikal jaati hai real world mein. Acceleration bhi kaafi quick hai, traffic mein nikalna easy ho jaata hai. Suspension soft hai toh speed breakers pe bhi shock nahi lagta. Brakes combi-braking wale hain, safe feel hote hain. Boot space mein full-face helmet + thodi shopping bhi aa jaati hai. Charging time 5-6 ghante lagte hain normal 15A socket se, raat mein laga do subah full ready. Ab tak koi problem nahi aayi, build quality solid lagti hai. Service center wale bhi helpful hain. ₹55-60k mein itni loaded EV scooter milna badi baat hai. Petrol scooter se har mahine 1500-2000 bachta hai. Total paisa vasool aur tension-free ride. Jo bhi budget EV soch rahe hain, Yulu Wynn blindly le sakte hain. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Zest is having running off issue
Zest having a problem off when slowing the scooter. This problem has started in 9 months. Service center is not able to repair for past 1 year. Almost it was repaired more than 10 times, even then the issue is not fixed. So it is risky to buy TVS zest. So please think twice before you go ahead and buy.
