With many styling and underpinning changes, the Bear 650 manages to stand out quite a bit!

BREAKING: Royal Enfield Bear 650 Launched

Royal Enfield has launched the Bear 650 scrambler starting at a price of Rs 3,39,000 (ex-showroom Chennai). The bike is based on the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, but with a few changes to its design and underpinnings to match the scrambler nature. Here’s everything you need to know about this bike.

Royal Enfield Bear 650 Price & Rivals

The Royal Enfield Bear 650 is offered in 5 colour schemes with prices ranging from Rs 3.39 lakh to Rs 3.59 lakh, ex-showroom Chennai. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the prices:

    Colour

    Price (ex-showroom Chennai)

    Broadwalk White

    Rs 3,39,000

    Petrol Green

    Rs 3,44,000

    Wild Honey

    Rs 3,44,000

    Golden Shadow

    Rs 3,51,000

    Two Four Nine

    Rs 3,59,000

The Bear 650 currently has no natural rivals in the 650cc scrambler segment. The only alternatives you can go for are, Moto Morini Seiemmezzo 6 ½ which comes at an ex-showroom price of Rs 6,89,000.

    Royal Enfield Bear 650 Underpinnings

Other scramblers in the market include the Triumph Scrambler 400X and the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401.

    Royal Enfield Bear 650 Design

The Bear 650 has a retro design that is similar to what we have already seen on the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. But the brand has made a few changes to make it stand out, such as the addition of more funky colours and graphics.

Out of the 5 colours offered, the Two Four Nine colour scheme stands out. It pays homage to Eddie Mulder, the youngest champion of the California big bear run.

Another interesting bit is the addition of a competition number board mounted on the side-panel, which gives the bike a sportier look. Royal Enfield has also made a few changes to make the bike look a bit more modern.

Royal Enfield Bear 650 Design Rear

This includes the use of a compact looking 2-into-1 exhaust instead of the chunkier twin exhausts as seen on the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650. The engine crankcase, piston head and the exhaust end can have also got a matte black finish, giving the bike a unique identity of its own.

Royal Enfield Bear 650 Engine & Performance

The Bear 650 is powered by the same 648cc air & oil-cooled parallel-twin motor as the Interceptor 650. But the engine has undergone a few changes.

    Royal Enfield Bear 650 Engine

It offers 47.4 PS at 7150rpm and 56.5 Nm at 5150rpm, which is 8 percent more torque than before.

    Royal Enfield Bear 650 Underpinnings

The bike is built on a twin-cradle frame, and is suspended on a 43mm inverted fork and twin-shock absorbers. The inverted fork offers 130mm wheel travel and the twin-shock absorbers offer 115mm wheel travel. Compared to the Interceptor 650, the Bear offers a ground clearance of 184mm which is 10mm more than the Interceptor 650’s 174mm ground clearance.

    Royal Enfield Bear 650 Offroading

The Bear 650 rolls on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheel setup. Braking is handled by a 320mm front and 270mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS as standard. Royal Enfield is also offering switchable ABS at the rear, which will enhance the bike’s off-road credentials, making it easier to execute controlled slides.

Although the bike is meant to be a scrambler, it is a bit towards the heavier side with its kerb weight (wet) of 216kg.

    Royal Enfield Bear 650 Features

The Bear 650 is a bit more modern in terms of features when compared to the Interceptor 650. It gets the same 4-inch TFT console as the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450

    Royal Enfield Bear 650 Console

The console offers smartphone connectivity and features such as full-fledged navigation via GoogleMaps, and music control.

    BikeDekho Says

Overall, the Bear 650 is an interesting bike which will offer a different riding experience, something a bit more modern.

    Royal Enfield Bear 650 Design

It will be a good choice for riders who are looking to experience the 648cc parallel twin engine, but in a more modern package which has a lot more features to offer.

      Beast named bear
Im a tall person and i needed a tall bike and the looks of this golden shadow is just beautiful. I would have chosen interceptor 650 but this just was it when i first sat on it in the showroom. Cant get over of it. Posture has to be perfectly aligned will hurt if you don't sit right and the pull is amazing, even on the 5th gear you can feel the bike wanting to run ahead loved the overall experience, needs a seat change and tires can be better, my personal opinion If you are tall and need a 650cc from royal enfield id definitely suggest this bike way too good but, there is always a but be careful with the suspension, heavier the person better the suspension, the pull is great (torque) better than a gt most people would disagree but whatever.

Thrill and Joy With Bear 650
Being an owner of legendary bullet-350 for 13 years this was going to be an upgrade from castle to scyscraper, from bull to bear!! Riding Bear-650 is like watching action packed movie, you dont want to miss a beat; pacy, thrilling experience. It will make sure that it stays with you even after you left it in the parking area. Immense torque and power, a bit stiffer on suspension but you will get used to it and I think that stubbornness is what makes Bear the Bear. Go for it, if you want fun and thrill and not to forget that feeling of towering road presence on road while overtaking, making your moves.

      Fire 🔥 Smooth
Absolute genius move of designer and engineers to create this 👏. This is one of the best bikes I have ever experienced in my life. I want some more of these models for my family and friends. The smoothness and refinement of engine is like another level pushed in this range, the pickup and the stability is of course tooo good.
