Valentine’s Day 2025 is here and we have compiled a list of the best single-cylinder bikes in India, which prove that being single is not necessarily a bad thing. The list includes everything from an insane streetfighter to a retro icon and more.
KTM 390 Duke
The KTM 390 Duke is a bike which requires no introduction, and it has been a sensation ever since its entry into the Indian market. Currently, it stands out as one of the most powerful bikes in the 400cc single-cylinder segment.
The bike has a really aggressive design and styling with sharp looking tank extensions. The fang-like LED DRLs and the overall profile surely makes it stand out quite a bit.
It is powered by a 398.63cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine which produces 46PS and 39Nm. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter as well.
It offers electronic riding aids like traction control, cornering ABS, launch control and wheelie control among others. The bike is offered at a price of Rs 2,95,136 (ex-showroom), thanks to its price being reduced by Rs 18,000. If you are looking for good performance and features on a budget, then the KTM 390 Duke is worth considering.
Yamaha R15
The Yamaha R15 is the bike which really began the supersport craze in India. Over the years Yamaha has given it some much needed changes both in terms of design, performance and features. Out of all the variants of the R15, the Yamaha R15M stands out the most.
The bike features an aggressive supersport design which takes inspiration from the higher capacity Yamaha R1. It comes off as a more premium motorcycle overall, and feels like a higher capacity bike.
It is powered by a 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine which outputs 18.4PS and 14.1Nm. Now, the power and torque figures may not appear to be as good as other bikes in the price range. But the R15 just stands out as a very capable supersport which can be the perfect beginner bike on which to perfect your skills. The top of the line R15M variant with the Icon Performance colour scheme comes at a price of Rs 2,10,800 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Royal Enfield Classic 350
The Royal Enfield Classic 350 is another bike which has achieved legendary status in India. The retro design and styling which is similar to the Bullet 350 made the bike a favourite of many riders.
Royal Enfield has updated the bike over the years, making it more competitive compared to rivals. It is now powered by a 348cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine which outputs 20.21PS and 27Nm.
What we love about the Classic 350 is the bike’s relaxed nature with a good amount of bottom end torque. But for most riders, the Classic 350 represents a Classic bike which has an aura of masculinity. Overall, love it or not, the Classic 350 is one bike which is unforgettable. The Classic 350 starts at a price of Rs 1,93,080 (ex-showroom, Chennai).
BSA Goldstar 650
The Goldstar name is one which carries a great legacy. The original Goldstar was one of the fastest bikes of its era. Now Classic Legends has brought the bike back in a modern avatar. The new BSA Goldstar 650 manages to retain a lot of the same classic design and styling.
It features large BSA badging on the tank and also one on the engine cylinder as well. The use of chrome elements also adds a great deal in increasing the overall retro look and feel. It is hard to deny that the BSA Goldstar is a very good looking bike. It is powered by a 652cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine which outputs 45.6PS and 55Nm.
The bike starts at a price of Rs 2,99,990 (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is quite reasonable for a 650cc motorcycle.
QJ SRC 500
The QJ SRC 500 is another big single retro bike that is available in India. It features a retro-inspired design with a round headlight, and a tear drop shaped tank. It is powered by a 480cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine which produces 25.5PS and 36Nm.
We had a chance to ride the QJ SRC 500 a while back, and the bike managed to impress us quite a bit. The build quality, and riding experience was really good. Everyone on our team who had a chance to ride it had very good things to say about the bike.
It comes at a price of Rs 1,99,000 (ex-showroom), which makes it look like a steal. But QJ Motor doesn’t have a massive dealership or showroom network in India yet.
Ducati Hypermotard Supermono 698 Mono
This bike is Ducati’s first single-cylinder motorcycle in over 3 decades, and also one of the most expensive singles in India. It comes at an insane price of Rs 16,50,000 (ex-showroom). The bike has a typical supermoto design and styling with the raised fender and typical dirt-bike-like slim profile.
It is powered by Ducati’s 659cc, liquid-cooled Superquadro Mono single-cylinder engine which produces a whooping 77.5PS and 63Nm. This makes it the most powerful single-cylinder bike in India.
The bike is an insane offering from Ducati India, but as it comes to India via the CBU route from Italy and Thailand, the pricing is a bit too high. Currently only bikes that are above 800cc are eligible for a tax exception under the free trade agreement India has with Thailand.

I'm primarily using it for city & highway rides. I have ridden it around 6000 kms that include both city & highway rides. The bike has great rear suspension & okayish front suspension (could've been improved). I prefer to setup the pre load to 4 (against the default 2) for better quality ride. Yes, Definitely go for it if you're looking for a thumpy performance & old school characterful bike. Suites best for city & highway commutes.
