Ather Rizta vs TVS iQube Image Comparison: Which Family Scooter Should You Get?
Does the Ather Rizta have what it takes to go up against the TVS iQube?
Ather Energy recently launched their first family-oriented scooter the Ather Rizta. The Ather Rizta competes directly with the TVS’s family-oriented e-scooter the TVS iQube and this begs the question, how do both electric scooters compare? We will be answering this question through this image comparison.
Design
Both the Ather Rizta and TVS iQube come with a typical family oriented scooter like design, with their boxy body, spacious floor board and large seat. But the TVS iQube does manage to bring that feeling of premiumness with the paint finished mirrors, windscreen and LED DRLs that neatly stack into the headlight cowl.
The Rizta comes with plain mirrors and the front section doesn’t really stand out. But where it shines is in the wide range of colour options Ather has offered, with the Rizta S getting 5 colours. The colour schemes include single-tone White and Grey and dual-tone options - Blue, Green, and Grey. The dual tone colours look really good. The iQube looks quite plain when it comes to colours, although TVS does offer some brighter colours in general for the iQube.
Powertrain
The Ather Rizta is powered by a 4.3kW motor that is able to give the scooter a claimed top speed of 80kmph, whereas the iQube comes with a 4.4kW motor which gives it a claimed top speed of 78kmph. So in terms of power there’s a very minor difference but they’re more or less the same.
Range is where things take a different turn, and the Rizta clearly shines here. The base Rizta S and mid-spec Rizta Z come with 2.9kWh battery packs and both variants get a claimed Indian driving condition range of 124km. The iQube on the other hand comes with a 3.04kWh battery pack which gives a claimed range of 100km.
Underpinnings
Both the e-scooters share similar underpinnings, with 12-inch wheels at both ends and a braking setup that consists of a disc at the front and drum break in the rear. But the frame and suspension setup at the rear are quite different. The iQube has twin shock absorbers in the rear, whereas the Rizta gets a centrally-mounted monoshock.
Features
Both scooters bring the standard set of features that one would expect in this segment, like smartphone connectivity and related functionalities like turn-by-turn navigation, Call/SMS alerts and readouts like distance to empty.
But the Ather Rizta’s Z variants take this a step further and bring a lot more to the table now thanks to the Ather Stack 6 update. The 7-inch TFT touch console on the Rizta now gets WhatsApp integration and also the option to reject calls with a message. Ather has also integrated voice assistance via Alexa. But the TVS iQube makes up for it with more security features like geofencing, anti-theft alerts and also fall/crash alerts.
Both offer similar levels of storage, with the Rizta having a 34-litre boot space and the iQube with 32-litres.
Where the Rizta has an advantage is in safety features as it comes with Ather’s skid control feature which is their term for traction control. This is the first time we have seen this on an electric scooter and it is available on the Rizta Z.
Ather Rizta vs TVS iQube - Which one should you buy?
The Ather Rizta starts at a price of Rs 1,09,000 for the S variant and goes up to Rs 1,24,999 for the 2.9kWh Z variant. The 3.7kWh Z variant costs Rs 1,44,999. All prices are introductory ex-showroom. iQube on the other hand had recently undergone a small price hike with the end of FAME 2 subsidy. It now comes at a price of Rs Rs 1,36,628 for the base variant and Rs 1,46,420 for the iQube S(both ex-showroom Bengaluru, including EMPS).
Both the Ather Rizta and TVS iQube are good options if you are looking for a family-oriented electric scooter and each comes with its own advantages and disadvantages. Which one is perfect for you depends on what you are looking for. If you want a scooter that looks stylish and premium then the iQube will be the right choice. But if looks are secondary and what you want is more features and performance at a more affordable price then the Rizta is the way to go.
