Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has launched the updated Shine 125 for the Indian market. The bike is offered in two variants: Drum and Disc. The Drum variant is priced at Rs 84,493 and Disc variant at Rs 89,245 (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The bike is now offered in six new colour schemes: Pearl Igneous Black, Geny Gray Metallic, Matte Axis Gray Metallic, Rebel Red Metallic, Decent Blue Metallic and Pearl Siren Blue.
Design:
The Honda Shine 125 gets a very typical commuter design with a hint of sportiness to it. The bike gets stylish graphical elements that run across the body panels from the tank to the tail section, giving it a very sleek look. It also gets chrome accents at the front headlight cowl and on the exhaust cover at the rear. The bike gets a long single-piece seat with a body-coloured grab rail at the end.
Engine:
The new Honda Shine 125 is now powered by a 123.94cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, OBD-2B compliant engine producing 10.63PS of peak power and 11Nm of peak torque and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The bike also gets Honda’s idle start-stop system that switches off the bike when not in motion and starts it again at the twist of the throttle, thereby improving fuel economy too. It also gets an ACG (Alternating Current Generator) starter for silent ignition.
Underpinnings:
The Shine 125 gets a telescopic fork and twin-shock absorbers with 5-step preload adjustability. The bike sits on 18-inch alloys on both ends with an 80-section tubeless tyre at the front and a new and wider 90-section tubeless tyre at the rear for increased stability. It gets a 240mm front disc in the disc variant and a 130mm front drum brake in the drum variant. The bike has a 130mm rear drum brake on both variants with CBS (Combined Braking system) for an increased safety quotient.
Features:
The bike now gets a fully digital instrument console showing readouts of speedometer, odometer, tripmeter, fuel gauge, gear position indicator, real-time fuel economy, distance to empty and power mode indicator. Along with these, the bike also gets a side-stand engine cut-off feature and a UBS type-C charging port.
Rivals:
The Honda Shine 125 will rival the bikes like Hero Super Splendor, Hero Glamour and Bajaj Pulsar 125.
BikeDekho Says
The Honda Shine 125 has always been one of the best selling 125cc commuter motorcycles. The Shine 125 was always known to be reliable, smooth and refined but lagged behind when it came to modern features compared to the likes of the Hero Glamour Xtec and the Hero Super Splendor. With the addition of these features, it has become more appealing to the current 125cc commuter segment and also its potential buyers.
