Launched in select Asian markets, the 2020 iteration gets a new colour

  • The Yamaha Force 155 is a maxi-style scooter with a 155cc liquid-cooled engine.
  • It costs an equivalent of around Rs 3.34 lakh.
  • The new silver and black dual-tone colour makes the scooter look quite premium and sporty.

The 2020 Yamaha Force 155, known as Yamaha Majesty 155 in certain markets, has been launched in select Asian markets like Taiwan. Priced at an equivalent of Rs 3.34 lakh, the 2020 version comes in a new silver and black dual-tone colour. The rest of the scooter’s features and mechanicals have remained unchanged. If you’ve been following our reports, you may recall the 2020 Yamaha Majesty S 155 was unveiled in Japan in March 2020 with design tweaks and an all-LED lighting system. This newly launched scooter is still the previous-generation model compared to the Japanese offering.

The unique selling points of this scooter are the maxi-scooter-like styling and the mid-mounted monoshock. The scooter is powered by a 155cc 4-valve liquid-cooled engine. While the power and torque figures haven’t been revealed, expect it to be around the same ballpark as that of the new-gen Majesty S 155, which makes 14.96PS and 14Nm. The claimed efficiency figure of this maxi-styled scooter stands at 35.8kmpl, which isn’t all that bad.

The Yamaha Force 155 employs a telescopic front fork. Its 13-inch alloy wheels are wrapped with 120-section front and 130-section rear tubeless tyres. Braking setup comprises a 267mm front and a 245mm rear petal disc. Notable features include twin halogen headlamps and a full-LCD instrument cluster with a tachometer, apart from the regular trove of information.

The scooter is now available in four colours in total: gloss black, matte black, silver and white. Yamaha is unlikely to launch this scooter in India. The Japanese brand had earlier planned to launch the Yamaha R15 V3.0-derived Yamaha NMax 155, but the transition from BS4 to BS6 emission norms coupled with the coronavirus pandemic seems to have resulted in an indefinite hold to those plans. We hope Yamaha brings the NMax 155 to India once the pandemic situation is under control and the market is somewhat stable.
