Expert Review
Suzuki Access is the first 125cc scooter introduced by Suzuki back in 2007. Later on in 2013, the company released its special edition variant in limited numbers that come with a handful of extra features. The vehicle has shown decent sales numbers ever since its inception and registered itself as the best-selling scooter
of the company.
The scooter gets propelled by a 124cc, air-cooled, four-stroke mill that generates a maximum power of 8.58bhp at 7,000rpm along with a peak torque of 9.8Nm at 5,000rpm. Run by a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), the scooter employs electric start and kick start as the two modes of starting.
Suzuki Access is fitted with 120mm drum brakes at both ends that offer a good stopping power. The suspension system comprises of telescopic forks at the front and coil spring aided shock absorbers at the rear. The company has equipped the vehicle with 90/100-10 tubeless tyres at the front and rear that offer a good grip and do not deflate suddenly in case of a puncture.
With a very usual appearance, Suzuki Access comes to meet the requirements of those who crave for a power-packed, daily use commuting machine. The front profile of the scooter has a boring headlamp with clear lens indicators fitted impressively in the front body panel. The longer and wider seat ensures a comfortable ride for rider as well as pillion. The overall body profile isn’t that aerodynamic or fluidic like we see in most of the scooters today. The rear section gets an elegant tail lamp with clear lens blinkers.
The instrument console of the scooter comprises of an analogue speedometer, fuel gauge, odometer and telltale lights. Suzuki Access has a massive under seat storage of 20 liters that proves convenient for storing purposes. With body dimensions of 1,780mm x 650mm x 1,125mm (LxWxH), the scooter has a respectable demeanor in public. It has a wheelbase and minimum ground clearance of 1,250mm and 160mm respectively that ensures good handling and stability. With a fair fuel economy, the 6 liter fuel tank yields a decent range after refuelling it to full.
Design and Features
Suzuki Access is not a meritorious scooter especially when it comes to looks. However, the body design is quite satisfactory that helped it maintain its existence in the Indian scooter market. The front section of the scooter has a traditional trapezoidal shaped headlamp with clear lens turn indicators embedded in the apron. The telescopic forks are reliable and works well on every surface. The scooter has a wide and well-padded seat that offers comfort to the rider and pillion even in long journeys. It has a sleek silencer with chrome muffler cover giving a robust look. The rear end of the scooter has a stylish tail lamp integrated with clear lens turn indicators.
Suzuki Access 125 has body measurements of 1,780mm x 650mm x 1,125mm (LxWxH) and has a wheelbase of 1,250mm. With a minimum ground clearance of 160mm, the scooter offers a good stability in city traffic as well as long stretches. It comes with a genuine 20 litre under seat storage compartment to give convenience to its owner. The scooter has a 6 liter fuel tank that gives it a decent range without any halt.
Braking and Handling
Suzuki Access comes with a pair of 90/100-10 tubeless tyres fitted at both ends. The braking duties are carried out impressively by 120mm drum brakes at the front and rear. The suspension kit of the scooter comprises of telescopic, coil spring, oil damped forks at the front and swing arm with coil spring, oil damped shock absorbers at the rear.
Safety and Features
Suzuki Access has a pair of 90/100-10 tubeless tyres fitted at both ends that offer a superior grip, thereby enhancing the overall ride quality. The two rear view mirrors keeps the rider alert to prevent any mishap. The scooter has a luminous 12V-35/35W headlight that ensures a good visibility in dark and low light conditions. The maintenance free battery cuts down on maintenance costs and saves much pennies of the owner. A central locking and unique safety shutter is convenient that gives an extra inch of safety to the scooter. These set of features make Suzuki Access a trustworthy and reliable companion that fits in well for daily commuting purposes.
