Sadly, the updates are only cosmetic

Yamaha MT-15 Updated In Thailand

When Yamaha launched the updated MT-15 in India, it came kitted with the Yamaha R15 V4’s USD fork, revised instrument cluster and cast aluminium swingarm. Now, Yamaha has updated the bike for Thailand and here’s a lowdown into what the bike gets in its latest iteration.

What’s instantly noticeable is the lack of a flashy golden fork up front. That has been replaced with a stealthier black inverted fork. That said, this change is only for the Grey variant. The Blue and Black ones have retained the golden upside down fork. Another major visual change are the new blue rims, replacing the older red ones.

Somethings that are not instantly visible are the slight new cosmetic changes on the tank extensions when compared to the 2021 model. Along with that, there’s the Tosca Green striping on the fuel tank too. The updates now make the graphics similar to the ones seen on the India-spec MT-15. The only thing different is the actual colours on offer.

Yamaha MT-15 Instrument Console

What’s interesting to note is that the instrument cluster on the Thailand-spec MT-15 does not get bluetooth connectivity, like on the one that’s available in India. That coupled with the fact that the bike doesn’t even get single-channel ABS as standard are the key differences between what the Thai and Indian versions offer.

The design is still the same, carrying the characteristics of the MT Series with a projector LED headlamp with DRLs that give it an aggressive look.

As for the engine, the MT-15 is unchanged, carrying on with its 155cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which has 18.4PS and 14.1Nm on tap. The engine is equipped with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA). The motorcycle has an fairly accessible seat height of 810mm, a 10-litre fuel tank, and the bike tips the scale at 139 kg. It gets 17-inch wheels  at both ends with a 100/80 tyre at the front and a 140/70 at the rear.

The streetfighter from Team Blue retails at 1,01,000 Baht, which is approximately Rs 2,28,477. On the othe hand in India, the MT-15 v2 retails at Rs 1,59,900 for the Metallic Black variant and at Rs 1,60,900 for all other variants. (ex-showroom Delhi).
