Yamaha Fascino 125: Pros, Cons, Should You Buy One?

All the ups and downs of Yamaha’s first crack at the 125cc scooter segment

All the ups and downs of Yamaha’s first crack at the 125cc scooter segment

Yamaha has finally taken the plunge and entered the 125cc scooter segment with the RayZR 125 and Fascino 125. The latter is the more stylish and popular of the two, and we’ve had a chance to swing a leg over it, so here are the ups and downs of the Fascino 125:

Pros

Frugal Motor

It might be a little low on power and torque compared to its competition, but the upside of that is excellent fuel economy. The Fascino returned a very impressive 65.92kmpl in the city, and even on the highway, it wasn’t too shabby, at 57.30kmpl. This makes it the most fuel-efficient 125cc scooter we’ve ever tested!

Light and Nimble

At just 99kg (kerb), the Fascino is one of the lightest scooters around, and this makes it agile and manoeuverable in tight city spots. But thanks to a long wheelbase, it’s also stable and doesn’t feel nervous. A 12-inch front wheel and soft suspension setup mean that ride quality is quite comfortable too.

Good Brakes

The optional 190mm front disc brake offers great bite and progression, working well at stopping the scooter in both wet and dry conditions. The CBS is also well calibrated and the Maxxis tyres offer decent grip, allowing you to quickly and safely stop in an emergency.

Cons

Basic Instrumentation

The instrument cluster is the rider’s interface with the scooter and in the case of the Fascino, it’s quite unimpressive. All you get is a speedometer and a fuel gauge, and they’re both analogue units, giving the cluster a very dated look overall.

Lack of Features

It’s quite disappointing that a brand new scooter like the Fascino misses out on equipment like LED lighting, an external fuel filler lid, and a boot light even in 2020. Even the USB charger is an optional extra. We wish Yamaha had thrown in some more goodies.

Weak Headlight

We usually prefer well-executed halogen headlights to the LEDs you see on scooters these days, but the Fascino fails to impress even with its halogen unit. There is a distinct lack of brightness and intensity, resulting in very poor illumination of the road ahead.

Verdict

The Fascino does a lot of things quite well and if fuel efficiency is your top priority then this should be the scooter you go for. But with a very similar price tag, the Suzuki Access 125 is quicker and more feature-rich, making it difficult to recommend the Fascino over it.

one of the most easiest scooters overall

It is one of the smoothest and most nimble handling scooters available in the market with a strong competition it offers a very good accessibility for new riders as well as the friendly nature makes it easy to ride in everyday traffic. the positive thing of this scooter is the handling, it is very easy to handle in heavy traffic, even with travelling a small amount of household goods, also the smoothness of the vehicle, negative points will be it has stiff suspension and under seat fuel filling system which cannot be accessible to the most. yes the bike can be recommended to a new rider or who wants overall comfort, mileage and easy going nature if the scooter, also one must consider the pricing, though it falls in a premium segment the features are comparatively less, but has very strong points to balance out.Read More

Good driving with pillion .

Good driving with pillion. Nice pickup power, must maintain periodically without fail or it will issue its mileage and performance. Good option for daily based and long rides without much shivering of handels in the road. Boot space is limited in the front area in of the disadvantages, otherwise it’s a good to go option.Read More

FEEDBACK ON FASCINO 125

2025 January I have purchased this fascino 125 vehicle, very comfortable journey and nice experience while riding in this scooter but cost is little more expensive in my opinion. It would better if it can affordable at low budget. This is eco friendly vehicle. I have ride this vehicle almost 5,000 km very nice experience. I felt very easy to control, less weight easy to turn suddenly, good budget friendly vehicle, very smooth while riding no shaking or vibration. Yes, I will definitely recommend to my family, Relatives and friends. I'll constantly and frequently using this vehicle to my office and home and city commute, no worries it also good for long travel so no worries less maintenance charges.Read More

Review after 4 years of riding

For Looks and spacious, because of the hybrid system , bluetooth connectivity, other scooter have classy but i selected for over all features, other scooters does not offers many features at that time. Engine get noisy within 300 km if we have habbit of sudden throttling and habit of rash driving so bike must be handled slow and gradual increase in throttle then we wont get any noise,it will settle after several km of slow and steady throttling, speedometer wire get become faulty 6 months once , scooter will accelerate itself after 6 month because of some fault in accelerator wire at fist it will 10 km/h then if we did not fix it with mechanic it will gradually increase and go upto 40 km/h when we start the bike its act a cruise control but we need do unwanted breaking and loss in mileage, breaks must be periodically tightened other it will become loose, I do not have experience with other bike hence this is my first bike I do not have any experience with other scooters so I do not have knowledge and experience to comment about this , bike have good pickup once we reached a speed of 40 to 60 km per hour then we can over take anything without any lag , but at first 40 km we will feel rubber band effect . it can be a choice but not so good choice 😁

the speed meter wire is not up to the mark.. every pot hole feels like you got into it and the front wheel touches the protector so it makes noise. the real world mileage for an average driver would come down to 50kmpl. Not suitable for heavy weight drivers. Take it only if you like the design. should consider other options before you take it.Read More
