The 125cc bike will be a direct rival to the TVS Raider 125 when launched

We received exciting news last week of Hero MotoCorp developing two new 125cc motorcycles, which will be launched sometime this year. And it seems the development and testing processes are well underway, as a camouflaged Hero bike was seen testing for the first time.

Judging by the spy shots, it looks like the upcoming Xtreme 125R. The upcoming bike gets pretty aggressive styling, and the overall design is similar to the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V, though with a few tweaks. That said, the tank extensions don't look as cohesive, and we hope the final design is much more fluid. The bike also gets stylish six-spoke alloy wheels. We can spot LED lighting all over with slim taillight, and a stubby exhaust design. Reinforcing the possibility of it being a smaller 125cc version of the Xtreme is the presence of the telescopic fork, and rear drum brake. The bike also comes with a monoshock, and the instrument cluster is likely a full-LCD unit, possibly with smartphone connectivity.

The motorcycle might be in its initial stages of development, so multiple changes to the design can be expected in the final product compared to what we are seeing right now.

The upcoming Xtreme 125R will lock horns directly against the TVS Raider 125, and will likely be launched by the end of this year with an expected price tag of Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom). Other rivals include the Honda SP125 and the Bajaj Pulsar NS125

Also expected to launch in the same timeframe or sometime early next year is another premium 125cc bike from the Jaipur-based manufacturer, to take on the KTM 125 Duke. Hero is also making additions to its scooter lineup, with the upcoming launch of a 125cc version of the Xoom 110.
