TVS claims it’ll offer 15 per cent more mileage

  • The TVS Radeon BS6 features a fuel-injected motor.
  • It makes 0.21PS less than the Radeon BS4.
  • While the peak torque has remained unchanged at 8.7Nm, it arrives at 500rpm earlier.

The TVS Radeon BS6 has been launched at Rs 58,992 (ex-showroom Delhi). This makes it Rs 6,632 dearer than the Radeon BS4. We were bang on about its pricing in our exclusive report in March. The bike is also available in disc and drum variants under the Commuter Bike Of The Year Edition. Here’s the full ex-showroom Delhi price list:

For the added premium, TVS has equipped the Radeon with Eco Thrust Fuel Injection technology. With this, the brand claims it offers 15 per cent better mileage than the BS4 version. You’ll be shocked to find out how much mileage the bike returned in the real world. The 109.7cc single-cylinder air-cooled fuel-injected motor churns out 8.19PS at 7350rpm and 8.7Nm at 4500rpm. Comparatively, the BS4 Radeon makes 8.4PS at 7000rpm and 8.7Nm at 5000rpm. The powerplant continues to use the same 4-speed transmission as before.

Thanks to the additional emission controlling equipment and fuel injection, the kerb weight has gone up by 4kg, at 116kg for the drum variant. The disc brake equipped model weighs 118kg kerb. The only downside of the motorcycle was its weak braking power. Unfortunately, the TVS Radeon BS6 also retains the same setup as before: 130mm drum up front and 110mm drum at the rear, with a combined braking system as standard. However, the Commuter Bike Of The Year Edition features a front 240mm petal disc, which should take care of your braking woes. The bike continues with the same telescopic front fork and twin shock absorbers at the rear.

As far as the feature list is concerned, the BS6-compliant motorcycle also gets a malfunction indicator light in its analogue instrument cluster. The rest of the features remain unchanged. We’d have liked if the headlamp is all LED, at least in the special edition variant, but it continues to be a halogen unit with an LED DRL. Apart from the optional front disc brake, the Commuter Bike Of The Year Edition also features premium-looking tank pads, circular chromed out rear view mirrors, chromed out brake and clutch levers, diamond-pattern brown seat cover and premium graphics on the bodywork.

The TVS Radeon goes head-to-head with the Bajaj Platina 110 H-Gear BS6 (Rs 59,802) and Hero Splendor Plus BS6 (starts from Rs 59,600, ex-showroom Delhi).
