Top-Selling Motorcycles In April 2019; Bajaj Platina Registers Highest Growth Rate

The Bajaj Pulsar was the third best-selling bike in the month of March

Hero MotoCorp takes first and second spot once again. Honda snatches thrice place from Bajaj. Bajaj Platina posts the highest growth rate.

The two-wheeler sales report for the month of April 2019 showcases the extreme slowdown in the industry. While Hero MotoCorp occupies most of the top positions, it also posted negative results in terms of overall sales. It’s a similar case with Honda, where it’s top-selling bike dropped 21 per cent in sales compared to the same month last year. On the flipside, Bajaj’s aggressive pricing strategy paired with its new bike offers in the entry-level commuter segment has helped it garner immense success.

 

Top Sellers:

Like every other Monday, Hero MotoCorp holds onto the first two positions with the Splendor as its king and HF Deluxe as its knight. That said, the former registered a 16 per cent drop in sales compared to the corresponding month in 2018. The HF Deluxe gave the brand some breathing space by posting a slight increase in year-on-year sales.

Honda’s Shine had the upper hand this time around and chalked sales of 82,315 compared to Bajaj’s 75,589 with respect to the Pulsar. However, while the latter strengthened its position with positive growth, Honda witnessed a significant drop in sales as opposed to the same month last year. 

Though Royal Enfield remains the highest selling sub-400cc brand in the Indian market, it has observed a considerable slowdown in sales over the last couple of months. The company only managed to reel in 35,196 unit sales for the Classic 350 range last month in comparison to April 2018, which recorded sales of 52,075.

 

Top Gainers In April:

Bajaj’s Platina almost doubled its sales with an astounding growth of 77 per cent while all other companies struggled to match last years numbers. The only other bikes to showcase relative growths were the Hero HF Deluxe and Bajaj's very own Pulsar range.

TVS, on the other hand, displayed consistency by roping in 43,499 unit sales from the Apache RTR range, which was almost identical to last year’s numbers.
