This Modified Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 Looks Classy
The bike is called Gallinella and it features a lot of interesting design bits
We recently came across a beautifully modified Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 built by BAAK Motocyclettes, a French custom house. The bike is called the Interceptor 650 Gallinella and it features many changes to the design that have made the bike a very classy retro. Here’s everything you need to know.
In terms of design, the first thing BAAK has done is swap out the stock headlight and instrument console for a Classic headlight with an integrated speedometer. BAAK calls it the Daytona speedometer. The classic headlight is a round unit and the Daytona speedometer consists of an analogue speedometer and tachometer, along with a digital inset to display trip and odometer readouts.
Along with this, they have used a wider handlebar and integrated a 3-button switch gear on both sides. The 3-button switch gear is a simple unit that features 2 small buttons on the top with a metallic finish and a large black one.
The other major change that the bike has undergone with this build is the chopped subframe and the addition of a new rear fairing. The rear fairing covers the bike’s side panel and subframe, it features a typical bathtub-style design that old retro-style British rear fairings had. BAAK has also added a shortened leather seat, which has been made in-house. At the rear, the Interceptor 650 Gallinella features a small round taillight, giving the rear a simple and minimalist look.
The Gallinella has a compact profile, and to achieve this BAAK has swapped out the massive-looking twin exhausts for custom bobber-style exhausts. The exhausts look quite compact and blend in well with the design overall, it also gives the bike a unique look. Lastly, the number plate holder has been swapped out for an offset one that hangs off the bike’s rear left side.
The fairing kit and individual parts used for this build can be bought via BAAK Motocylettes’ official website and they offer shipping to India via DHL Express International shipping. That said, it is important to note that importing parts will attract import duties and other taxes so it is advisable to reach out to the custom house for more details.
Other than these changes, the Interceptor 650’s performance and underpinnings remain the same. It is powered by the same 648cc air/oil-cooled parallel-twin engine which produces 47PS and 52Nm.
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 comes at a starting price of Rs 3,03,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) and it goes up against other retro bikes in the segment such as the recently launched BSA Gold Star and the Kawasaki Z650RS.

I chose this bike because of the Smooth ride, great pick up and effortless torque with its parallel twin engine. Also the safety on long distance rides with its anti breaking system (ABS). While it is little heavy for city traffic, but it is unbeatable for price and performance. I have bought the bike second-hand from another person. While he had clocked 15000 km on the odometer, I have already done 17000 within a year, with 3 cross-country and 1 coastal route ride covering the entire coastal belt. I am loving it, though sometimes the low mileage and frequent pit stops are annoying. I would recommend this bike to people who will use it for long-distance rides and not use it for going to office or riding in traffic. In city traffic a lighter 150cc is better. But on long distance rides, interceptor is smooth like a hot knife through a butter. Read More
I chose the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 because it offers the perfect balance between classic retro design and modern performance. The twin-cylinder engine, smooth power delivery. Best bike till the date I drove. The ride experience has been excellent. The engine is incredibly smooth, especially compared to single-cylinder bikes. It feels relaxed at city speeds and very confident on highways handling is safe due to damping. Yes, I recommend this bike because of best looks and little bit maintenance other wise best bike and the torque is greater. I am addicted to bike what a bike, Its feels relaxed at City and very comfortable on highway. Read More
I am royal enfield fan and wanted something that will turn eyes. With a retro look and a classic bike. The bike has a god rubble to it and has an easy engine to work with if you are into doing diy mods or service. The passanger space is very un ergonomic. Eg. if the pillion wants to sit comfortably they usually put their leg on the gear shifter and the break leaver. The seat is also less cussioned i.e. softer making the pillion a lot fall under hard acceleration. For Batchelors and non pillion riders mile munchers happy go lucky travels who want to ride seriously but chill at the same time. And if you a rumble enthusiast you must try the bike.. it not be the best in a spec but over all its a good bike. Read More
