All-New Ather Konarc S vs TVS iQube 3.5 kWh: Price Comparison

The all-new Ather Konarc was recently launched in India at a starting price of Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is the brand’s first product based on the all-new EL-01 platform and gets a new design, motor, frame, and loads of new features. Here’s how its 3.5 kWh variant stacks up compared to the TVS iQube 3.5 kWh.

Price 

The Ather Konarc S 3.5 kWh variant is Rs 3,413 more expensive than the TVS iQube 3.5 kWh.

Ather Konarc S 161 km 

The Ather Konarc gets an all-new design, with a handlebar-mounted LED headlight, a long single-piece seat and, most importantly, metal body panels, a first for any Ather scooter. Overall, the scooter has a contemporary design compared to the more futuristic-looking iQube, and it also has a pillion backrest for additional pillion comfort.

Ather Konarc is available in four colour options: Quartz White/Blue, Majestic Grey/Black, Celestial Gold/Blue, and Lumen Copper/Black.

The scooter is powered by a 4.7 kW, 16Nm (both peak) electric motor paired with a 3.5 kWh battery pack. The scooter gets a claimed IDC (Indian Driving Conditions) range of 161 km along with a claimed top speed of 70 kmph.

The Ather Konarc gets a 14-inch front wheel, which should give it better stability while dealing with rough roads. It is equipped with a Showa telescopic fork and a monoshock, along with a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.

In terms of features, the Konarc gets a 7-inch segmented LCD console with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and call/SMS alerts. The Konarc S 161 km variant also comes equipped with AtherStack Pro, which enables features like music controls, over-the-air software updates, reverse mode, hill hold, Find My Scooter, and more connected features such as walk mode, find my vehicle, and theft alerts. 

TVS iQube 3.5 kWh

The TVS iQube 3.5 kWh gets a slightly modern-looking design, with an apron-mounted LED headlight, sporty diamond-cut alloy wheels, a flat seat, and sleek-looking body panels. Unlike the Konarc, the iQube gets fibre body panels, and it also gets a pillion backrest for additional comfort.

The iQube is available in five colour options: Pearl White, Walnut Brown, Titanium Grey, Starlight Blue-Beige and Copper Bronze-Beige.

TVS recently launched the iQube MillionR Special Edition with a new Aurora Green colour and added features to celebrate 1 million TVS iQube customers.

The scooter is powered by a 4.4 kW peak electric motor with a peak torque of 140 Nm. One thing to note here is that the iQube gets a hub-mounted motor as opposed to Konarc’s mid-mounted motor, which does not have the same torque calculations, thus resulting in a large difference in torque figures between the two scooters. iQube gets a similar 3.5 kWh battery pack with a claimed IDC range of 145 km, which is 16 km less than the Konarc S, while the top speed is 82 kmph, which is 12 kmph more than the Konarc.

In terms of underpinnings, the iQube rides on 12-inch wheels at both ends, along with a telescopic fork,  and twin shock absorbers. There is a disc brake at the front, and a drum brake at the rear.

In terms of features, the iQube gets a 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, call/SMS alerts, and more. The scooter also gets features like hill hold assist and reverse mode, similar to the Ather Konarc.

On paper, the Ather Konarc has an advantage in terms of overall range, hardware, and features. It gets a higher claimed IDC range than the TVS iQube, along with a larger 14-inch front wheel, which should make it slightly more comfortable over bad roads.

The TVS iQube, on the other hand, has an advantage in terms of top speed, with its 82 kmph claimed top speed being 12 kmph higher than the Konarc, which should make it better for highway usage. 

Overall, if you want a longer claimed range, larger wheels, and more premium hardware and features, the Ather Konarc S makes more sense. However, if a higher top speed and futuristic looks at a lower price point, then the TVS iQube 3.5 kWh could be the better choice.
