Royal Enfield Hunter 350 vs Triumph Speed T4: Detailed Comparison

Find out which motorcycle suits your needs better in this detailed comparison

The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and the Triumph Speed T4 are two good options if you are looking for a retro-styled roadster with decent performance. While the designs of both motorcycles fit perfectly in the neo-retro space, each one caters to very different kinds of rider needs. One comes from India’s most loved lifestyle motorcycling brand, while the other brings on its premium British legacy in the nameplate. Sounds confusing? Let’s help you out with a detailed comparison between the two, so you can make an informed decision and find the most suitable machine for yourself.

  • Both motorcycles appear to be of similar size. With a slightly shorter wheelbase, the Hunter 350 favours agility, while the longer wheelbase of the Speed T4 aids its high-speed stability.

  • Both have almost the same kerb weight. However, a shorter seat height makes the Hunter 350 more suitable for shorter riders, while the Speed T4 could be a more comfortable option for tall riders.

  • While both motorcycles carry a modern-classic design, there is a clear difference in their approach. The Hunter 350 appears to have been designed with simplicity in mind. The Speed T4, on the other hand, has a sharper look with its premium details and finishing.

  • Both motorcycles use frames made of steel tubes, but that of the Triumph Speed T4 is more advanced.

  • The traditional twin downtube spine frame of the Hunter 350 is decent for everyday riding and comfortable cruising. The hybrid spine/perimeter frame of the Speed T4 offers better rigidity and a more planted feel, especially at high speeds.

  • Both feature a telescopic fork at the front, but the Speed T4 has slightly fatter ones. That, with the gas-charged rear motoshock, further enhances its rigidity. The combination makes the Speed T4 a more confident option for spirited riding and high-speed touring.

  • The traditional set-up on the Hunter 350, on the other hand, has been tuned decently for daily comfort on urban roads.

  • The front brakes, ABS assistance, alloy wheels and tyre sizes are almost similar on both motorcycles. However, the overall braking performance could be better on the Hunter 350, as it has a significantly larger rear disc brake than the Speed T4.

While that’s standard on the top variant, it’s optional on the lower variant.

  • The engines on both motorcycles are single-cylinder, but the nature of both units reflects a difference of day and night. The Hunter 350’s long-stroke engine delivers torque early in the rev range, making it relaxed and easy to ride in traffic. The short-stroke unit of the Speed T4, on the other hand, is focused on stronger mid-range and sporty performance.

  • The Hunter 350 has a traditional air-cooled setup, while the Speed T4 uses a more advanced liquid-cooled, 4-valve setup for higher thermal performance.

  • While it has only slightly larger displacement, the Speed T4 delivers significantly higher power and torque output (about 11PS and 9Nm more) than the Hunter 350. It makes the Speed T4 a more capable contender for spirited riding and high-speed cruising.

  • The Hunter 350’s five-speed gearbox is tuned for relaxed, laid-back riding and urban conditions. The six-speed gearbox of the Speed T4 offers better flexibility, especially on open roads.

Verdict

The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is about keeping things simple. It’s easy to ride, easy to live with and feels right at home in the city. The friendly engine, low seat height and manageable weight make it a good everyday motorcycle, especially for newer riders or those who prefer a relaxed pace. But, if the Hunter 350 doesn't impress you, and you are looking to buy any other bike, check out its similarly priced alternatives.

The Triumph Speed T4 takes a more grown-up approach. Its bigger, liquid-cooled engine and more stable chassis make it feel stronger and more confident once the road opens up. It’s the better choice if you ride beyond city limits and want a motorcycle that feels a bit more sorted at higher speeds.

In the end, this isn’t about which bike is better, but it’s about where and how you ride. The Hunter 350 fits urban life neatly, while the Speed T4 makes more sense if your riding extends further than the daily commute.

Brilliant City + Highway Bike. Fully Satisfied!*

Brilliant city and highway bike. Fully satisfied. I have driven my Hunter 350 for almost 17,000 kms and everything is fantastic. The ride comfort is superb both on streets and highways. It handles traffic easily and is equally stable on long rides. The ride quality is brilliant with less vibrations and smooth engine. Looks are amazing - it has that perfect retro + modern street bike presence. Everywhere I go, people ask about it. Mileage, maintenance and overall reliability has been great. Fully satisfied with my purchase. Hunter 350 is the best bike in this segment.Read More

royal enfield hunter 350 my review

It's a really good bike to ride in the city. Really good torque and also has amazing exhaust. Note even with stock however the rear suspension is a bit hard. Not a bad bike at all if you are looking for daily commuting along with a good amount of power. Eyecatching and people have even stopped me to ask about the bike and overall the bike is really good.Read More

Royal enfield the build machine

My first preference is short height bike because it's easy to handle it plus maintenance was so reliable. As per compare to the other with the same segment Hunter is far better then others. I really love to ride royal enfield bikes. For the city riding you love it like handling was very amazing plus throttle response is very amazing. For the lobby route you can adjust your seat or add some cusion over the seat or buy the new seat. For the city purpose you can buy this bike only. As I have a classic 350 and metor. l really like to ride hunter only because that machine is more powerfull as compared to other RE machine like the engine sound and silencer sound without changing any parts it shows the old version one.
