Ather Electric is working on two new EV two-wheeler platforms for its future electric bikes and scooters. The new Ather electric bike platform is called Zenith. The manufacturer revealed that this platform will support e-bikes that will target 125-300cc petrol-powered bikes. Whereas, the new electric scooter platform is called EL, which will help Ather make affordable e-scooters.
What We Expect:
Ather Electric is known for manufacturing fun-to-ride and capable electric scooters, which are loved by enthusiasts. The Bengaluru-based, electric two-wheeler manufacturer is also backed by Hero MotoCorp. It currently has four electric scooters in its line-up including the Ather 450X, 450S, Rizta and the flagship 450 Apex.
The upcoming electric bike is also expected to offer a combination of stylish looks, impressive and smooth performance, modern but usable features and have that fun factor, present in all the Ather EVs that makes them stand out from the crowd. The upcoming Ather electric bike will likely have sporty characteristics with good handling.
At first, we believe that Ather will likely focus on a smaller capacity mass-market electric bike which will compete against the premium 125cc sporty commuters like the TVS Raider 125 and Hero Xtreme 125R. Later, the manufacturer may launch bigger and more powerful electric bikes that will rival the 150cc, 200cc, 250cc or even 300cc petrol-powered bikes.
With motorcycles, accounting for about 63 percent of the two-wheeler space in the country. Ather Energy is working to expand its portfolio and the brand is aiming to capture a solid 10 percent market share by the end of 2030.
The upcoming Ather electric bikes and scooters, based on the new platforms will be manufactured in Ather Electric’s upcoming facility in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. Ather will start production from May 2026, in a phased manner. The manufacturer currently has 2 manufacturing facilities, both located in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
